The Curse on America?
The Silent Majority ^ | 06-01-11 | J. D. Longstreet

I am going to turn my collar around and climb up into the pulpit for this one.

I was watching when President Obama called for Israel to return to the 1967 borders. I physically flinched when he said the words. Mentally, my mind was screaming: NO! NO!

If you have read the bible, then you know that God has promised punishment for anyone dividing the land he gave to Israel … severe punishment… even unto death. He has also promised to curse those who curse Israel. That curse covers nations as well as individuals.

I am a Christian gentile. And even though the man, for whom my protestant denomination is named, hated Jews, I do NOT share in his warped hatred for tribe of Judah.

In 1543 Martin Luther, The Great Reformer wrote a book entitled: “On the Jews and Their Lies.” In it he said: “Accordingly, it must and dare not be considered a trifling matter but a most serious one to seek counsel against this and to save our souls from the Jews, that is, from the devil and from eternal death. My advice, as I said earlier, is:

First, that their synagogues be burned down, and that all who are able toss sulphur and pitch; it would be good if someone could also throw in some hellfire…

Second, that all their books– their prayer books, their Talmudic writings, also the entire Bible– be taken from them, not leaving them one leaf, and that these be preserved for those who may be converted…

Third, that they be forbidden on pain of death to praise God, to give thanks, to pray, and to teach publicly among us and in our country…

Fourth,

Obama is a curse on America. America is in for a severe spanking for putting this wicked man in the White House.

Wasn’t able to open up link...

However, I think there is an awakening within Christianity in general, that the physical nation of Israel and it history is important to the preservation of the foundations of our beliefs and they are more and more of historical importance.

Unfortunately, the anti-semitic rants of SOME of the early reformers, where unwarranted and shows how knowledge has steadily increased in this area. It proves God’s light is being shed across generations of believers, as the whole truth would have been, for our sake, too much to bear if it had been revealed completly in one generation.

As the Gospel of the Kingdom is spread and more and more Christians get more in touch with our Judeo-Christian moral foundation, we will be more able and equipped to fully understand, appreciate and defend the faith in these perilous last days of violence and wave after wave of opposition and suppression of the truth.

There are many more truths that are to be studied, grasped and revealed in these latter days... such as the middle ground between replacement theology and the inclusion of a literal Israel in the last days...

Yes. I don’t understand nor condone the anti-Semitism of ML... some say it was because of the times, comparable to when slavery was “acceptable” in the US. The reality of the experience NOW is that the Christians that I know (and the larger Christian community that I know about) has totally embraced and supports Israel and the Jews and wants them to succeed and prosper.

The bible is full of funny stuff, like giving land to people, prophesying about the destruction of long gone empires. God sure does have a sense of humor..

“If two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity.”

I wonder why would this even be a possible scenario to god lol.

Heres one (a little more serious) for the author and the Christian world:

Matthew 6:5-8

“Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. I assure you: They’ve got their reward!

But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

When you pray, don’t babble like the idolaters, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words.

Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask Him.”

Why doesnt the author go in an uproar about these passages and how barely any Christian follows them? Especially here with our megachurches run by manipulative psychopaths who i know have supporters here. There are quite the fair share of rapture nutjobs in this corner.
I dont know why i even posted this, I guess because it bothers me that some Christians support Israel smply because of the end of days. You would think tht they would convert with such raw devotion, but that is not what they want, they want them all converted or destroyed or whatever the lord promised on armageddon.

Totally agree with you. I am excited to see Christianity embrace and bless Israel. Therein lies a great opportunity to witness, and let Israelis know we may be there only true, enduring ally in this world and thus preparing a fertile ground in their hearts and minds for accepting the Gospel of their true messiah, Yeshua Ha’ Mashiach.

I personally have been tremenduously blessed and have enriched my faith by grasping this important aspect of my faith. I don’t think Hebrew and Hebraic studies should be limited to those going into ministry and theological studies... The layperson would greatly benefit in learning the language, culture and origins of our faith in using it as a backboard for the sharing of the gospel to Jew or Gentile.

When in doubt, wear a cup.

King James Bible - Deuteronomy 23:1
He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

“The layperson would greatly benefit in learning the language, culture and origins of our faith in using it as a backboard for the sharing of the gospel to Jew or Gentile.”

...and as a means to grow in our own knowledge of God. For example, we can know about God and strengthen our faith by celebrating the Biblical feasts.

Christians are going to fail you and each other. “All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.” Romans 3:23 And many people have been hurt in the name of religion. It’s very sad and discouraging, but we can have hope in God’s grace.

Not so sure the 0 is a curse on America so much as the result recompense due our rebellious ways. IMO the 0 just may well be a spanking. Billy Graham said it well back in the 60’s when he said “If God doesn’t punish America for the way we are living today I believe He owes Sodom an apology.” Unless I am mistaken he alluded to Toynbee-whom Joe Lieberman likewise reminded us of at a Republican convention,a few years ago.

I think Luther- like Calvin misunderstood the Bible rending
their interpretations in accord with that of the Catholic Church from which they sprang. My understanding of Pauls epistle to the Romans especially suggested long before Luther - or Calvin — that God was not done with the Jews.
(Chapters 10-11) But they -like all men are captive to their times.I accept the good that they produced—and simply reject that which I cannot reconcile with Scripture. That man who seeks to part God’s land brings a curse upon himself and all who follow him.
