KCRA Television reports that concealed carry permits are up dramatically in Sacramento, California. According to reporter Danielle Leigh, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office has approved more concealed carry permits this year than in the history of the department. While neither she nor the spokesman for the Sheriff's Office mention it, this is directly attributable to the agreement reached by the Second Amendment Foundation and the CalGuns Foundation with the Sheriff's Department where "self-defense" is now recognized as showing "good cause".

The reporter asks the Sheriff's Department spokesman whether the rise in CCW permits means things are "out of control" and he replies, "I don't think so."

There is the obligatory interview with a Brady Campaign representative. Rebecca Gonzales says she is afraid that "gun violence" will go up. The response from the Sheriff's Department spokesman is that they have never had anyone shot by a CCW holder and that he hopes that trend continues.

Even though it's never gone up everywhere it's been tried in the last 40+ years, these saps use this same money quote.

“keep buying”

I have been trying to buy a rifle from an Internet based company. ( a Saiga Ca-legal semiauto.) I can’t get a local FFL to handle the transfer. They won’t order one for me but they don’t even want to talk about helping me get one from out of state! Antone out there know a friendly FFL in the Coachella Valley?

regards, Howie

The local news reported that citizens in a certain Aurora, CO neighborhood were “very afraid” due to a series of burglaries.....

I shouted to the TV, “REALLY?”

Or, is this media projection?

I’ll bet if that reporter had the courage or motivation to conduct live interviews, he’d likely have found a number of citizens committed to PROTECTING THEIR HOME AND FAMILY!

No, it means things are IN control.
Responsible people taking responsibility. That's a good thing.
It's the exact opposite of the "gun riots in the streets" that the left fear (and are secretly hoping for so they can pass more restrictive gun laws).
Instead, CCW holders are by and large model citizens, and if I may venture guess, predominantly Republican.

The ***** Department of Public Safety Officer pulled over pick-up truck owner Mike ****** for a weapons check because of an NRA bumper sticker. When the officer approached the vehicle, the man behind the wheel handed the officer his driver’s license, insurance card and concealed carry permit.

The officer took all the documents, looked them over and said. “Mr. ******,I see you have a CCP. Do you have any weapons with you?”

The driver replied, Yes I do. I have a 357 handgun in a hip holster, a .45 in the glove box and a ..22 derringer in my boot.”

The officer looked at Mike and asked, “Anything else?”
“Yes. I have a Mossberg 500 12-gauge and an AR-15 in the back.”

The officer asked if the man was driving to or from a shooting range and the man said no he wasn’t.

The officer then bent over and looked into the driver’s face and said “Mr. ******, you are carrying quite a few guns. May I ask what you are afraid of?”

Mike locked eyes with the officer and calmly answered: “Not a damn thing.”

I’m proud of the Sheriff Department’s stance.

But I also believe anybody who can legally own a handgun should be able to legally carry it concealed without a permit.
