But you’ve been paying into the system for years and years. It’s your money and you deserve it all back. (I’m just practicing for when SS goes bust just as I’m about to start collecting. I wish they would just tell me now - and let me not dump anymore money into the pyramid.)

Actually, our money is gone, replaced by a bunch of worthless IOU’s.
I agree....I am tired of being called greedy and uncaring when in fact I have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars into this system. The ones that STOLE the money and gave it to the unproductive that do not support the system at all are the greedy ones. But, alas, they have framed the argument so that those who paid in are greedy, and those that are currently paying in are victims of the greedy ones that have already paid in. In this regard, the politicians have won. We, both the “greedy” and the “victim”, are losing. Here is the answer. Your representative and senator ( along with mine ) are professional politicians. They put their butts and getting votes first. Period. This country was designed to be run by citizens, with no political experience, to serve their term and then go home. Until we all see this clearly, and begin to actually do it, the republic is lost.
Isn't that exactly what keeps the cycle going? I've been paying massive amounts into SS and I am under no delusion that 30 some odd years from now when I retire, it will exist. Heck, I see it as completely non-existent now.
