Herman Cain Speaks at RLC 2011
Right Scoop ^ | 6/18/11 | Right Scoop

Herman Cain gave a resounding speech today at the 2011 Republican Leadership Conference. He was more confident and eloquent than I’ve ever heard him before and he definitely didn’t need a teleprompter like you know who!

Even if Herman Cain doesn’t win the election, he has the ability to really rattle some cages.

I agree. If he doesn't get the nod then he should be the choice of the nominee for VP.

If only he would sign the SBA Pro-Life pledge. Haven’t heard him say why, but am really looking forward to hearing.

His why, as he has explained, is because he believes it should be a States issue not a Federal issue.

And he is correct. It is time to seriously bring back Federalism, and severely severly restrict the Federal Government.

I like Cain but I don’t know why he quotes MLK to a GOP audience.

Many of us were around in the ‘60’s when it was common knowledge that King was a tool for the communist movement.

I don’t get why Cain thinks King talk will score points with pubbie primary voters.

He shouldn't sign anything. It's pro-life this, next week it'll be some other petition, the week after that another, and so on. Then when someone questioned say the 9th one everyone will get all bent out of shape and start with accusations just as they're doing already. It'll never end. Best not to sign any petition. Once a candidate gives his stance on a subject, then a silly piece of paper is just that - silly.

Which of course as anyone can see is actually the quickest way to reduce this act from happeing — but only a certain former governor of Alaska can take that stance and get away with it in the minds of some Freepers — who are situationally outraged and situationally conservative.

Because it makes the liberals’ heads explode by demonstrating that much of what MLK said is actually conservatism.

This is related to why King’s grand daughter is linked to Cain’s campaign too.

Is the idea to p.o. libs or to get primary votes?

The FEDERAL issue of abortion has already been foisted on us - it IS a federal issue. There is every reason to support the repeal of Roe at the federal level, where the damage has been done.

That’s a good question, but I think the answer is both. Cain has been a crusader against liberalism for many years — long before this election cycle rolled around. Part of his appeal to his radio listeners and to those at tea party rallies has been his ability to rattle liberal cages.

Rattling liberals is simply part of who he is. It will be part of his campaign. It will appeal to some a whole lot and maybe not so much to others. But it’s who he is and he will not change for purposes of getting votes. (which is also part of his appeal IMO).

This is not mutually exclusive actually. A Federal rollback can only be done by appointing conservative judges, which I think is a drop dead certainty with Cain, Palin, Bachmann and Santorum. In the meantime, lives could be saved in the shorter run if certain states acted on this issue. It also rolls this issue into the over all theme of a states right Constitutional based candidacy with consistency.
