I was going to side with the cops until I saw them arrest her. Our culture is collapsing before our very eyes. This is NOT acceptable!

They said they did not feel safe with her behind them and wanted her to go in the house. Would they have felt safer if she had gone in the house and rested a 30-06 on the window sill and pointed it at them?

Sheesh.

My late uncle (and my best man at my wedding) was a career officer back when the motto “To Protect and Serve” actually meant something.
But it’s stuff like that causes me to advise folks about whom I care that if they ever find themselves in a bar frequented by cops to leave IMMEDIATELY. They are armed, possibly drunk and they’re ALWAYS RIGHT!

They are not wanting or looking to inspire confidence. They are wanting to instill fear.

I agree. But having that video go viral before the police could get their story straight was a big factor.

The Rodney King video was used in a different way- they only showed a few seconds of it, over and over, without showing King’s belligerence and refusal to follow instructions. That viral also had a huge influence.

>>We need them. But this is getting ridiculous. <<

Not really. Police are an invention of the last 200 years or so. Cops these days are basically secretaries with guns. If someone is committing a crime against you, YOU are the one that will prevent it. All the cops will do is come by later and try to get info to catch the guy.

All I know is that city folks sure do have a lot of problems with police.

Lot of country folks have trouble with police too.

Yep,, good for her to hand it off in time. ANd if i was defending her case,,, id want to know why the cops didnt feel threatened by her friends out there.

And that “I feel threatened” the cop kept saying,,sounded like something they would tell a grade school kid to say.

A reasonable person would not be afraid for their safety in this instance. Even Barney Fife would not be afraid. If he really was afraid for his safety he could have patted her down then let her resume taping.

Notice how he uses plural We for concern for safety and commands. BS you do not have to comply with an unlawful command, safer to do so and fight it later but this was not even a close call.

I have often wondered what would happen if the police showed up, saw a dog, and shot the dog for no reason. Then the homeowner -- very calmly -- says "That's a shame. Look, officer, I'm just going to step into my house to let my wife know about the dog. Is that OK?"

Cause if the cop had any brains at all, he would NOT want me to step into my house.

I think that they rely on some BS catch-all like “Interfering with an officer”. They’ve pretty well built a program in which they have a cushion against any protest.

God help them if they ever get in too deep and need a citizen to bail their azzes out.

I know they do. Just not as much, at least it's that way around my parts.

Part of this interaction MIGHT have been her making an ass out of herself as she did it, which her friends apparently didn’t. I hope this ends in a trial where all is aired, rather than in some hush hush settlement where nobody admits anything.

Temple Guards are mentioned well over 3,000 years ago in written documents.

Their job was to protect a space set aside for certain uses. Many of them had the authority to execute violators on the spot.

I think things have gotten better.

She wasn’t arrested for taping. She was arrested for being right behind the officers while they were arresting someone and refusing orders to go inside.

No need to divert traffic through the Ron Paul web site....or was that you intent?

Actually, the pixiq site wouldn't load for me - don't know if it's on my blocksite list or not.

I dislike the Paulists as much as the next guy - no need to get snide about it. I grabbed that site because the headline was shortest and to the point. You know the rules about changing the headline...

The cops have NO authority at all to be interested in her property without a warrant.

They will lose. She is lucky she wasn't also walking her dog.
