Another day, another whiny, 'offended' French-Canadian. One wonders when it is all going to stop.
The latest example of the plight of the poor, downtrodden French-speakers made news today when a federal court judge ruled in favor of serial-litigator Michel Thibodeau in his latest attempt at becoming a language rights crusader.
It seems Thibodeau and his wife were upset when, during several flights in 2009, the Air Canada crew failed to serve him in his preferred language. My God, the horror!

Let’s face it, Quebecois aren’t bright enough to learn English...
“Lets face it, Quebecois arent bright enough to learn English...”
LOL! My ancestors were bright enough to see the stupidity of it all. They immigrated to Wisconsin in the late 1800s, where they had English-speaking progeny. I am glad that they came to America to become Americans. They would probably roll in their graves if they could see the socialist society the Quebecois have become. What a bunch of whine-baby wusses!
ya they are, and they need a history lesson, the english won the 7 years war, the french surrendered unconditionally, and the english in the idiocracy, let them stay and keep their language and customs but they had to live under english law. We should of got rid of them then.
This guy needs a smack upside the head, and told to ferme ta goule! (shut your mouth!).
Three sentences?? Sheesh. Here.

The Frogs Need to Shut Up
Posted by Leigh Patrick Sullivan / 5:21 PM / Another day, another whiny, ‘offended’ French-Canadian.
The fact that Thibodeau is actually bilingual, and therefore understood perfectly the airline crew, is apparently irrelevant.
The court had no choice but to rule in Thibodeau’s favor due to insane federal language laws.
The verdict? A measly $12,000 plus court costs. Victory! That will save the dying french language for sure! French lives! French lives!
It turns out this isn’t the first time Thibodeau has gone after the national air carrier. He took Air Canada to court before, in 2002, and also won that case.
But wait - there’s more. The easily-offended Thibodeau also launched a complaint with the City of Ottawa because that city’s transit buses had the audacity to call out upcoming stops only in English.
We can only thank God that all of the serious crime in Canada has been eradicated, leaving our nation’s court dockets free and clear so that Thibodeau can enjoy his hobby of hauling in front of a judge those companies who fail to kiss French ass.
My sarcasm is caused by the frustration I feel for those victims of real crimes, who have to wait their turn so that Thibodeau can fill the court’s time with meaningless lawsuits. With such an appetite for wasting taxpayer dollars because he is ‘offended’, he would be a shoo-in for a spot on the Human Rights Commission. Richard Warman can’t go it alone forever.
The frivolousness that is Michel Thibodeau reminds me of another French language wannabe crusader, Gilles Caron.
Caron took the Alberta government to court because he was handed traffic ticket printed in English. The difference as I see it is this: Caron received the ticket in a province where French is the fourth most common language, so his ‘crusade’ was nothing more than an obvious and sad attempt at getting his name in the paper; pushing his language on a vast majority of non-French speaking citizens of a predominantly English-speaking province; and generally to be an annoyance.
Thibodeau’s agenda is similar, particularly in the social engineering aspect. But at least he wastes the people’s time and money in a part of the country that contains a higher number of people who speak French. The difference in the two examples is Thibodeau seems to have sunk so far into his delusion that he believes he is doing something ‘right’.
Michel Thibodeau, it seems, actually believes his own bullshit. Sad.
Like those who follow a radical path of a certain religion - say, for the sake of example, Islam - Thibodeau works through existing systems, exploiting weaknesses such as the completely useless language laws, to his advantage.
So, with numerous lawsuits, court battles, and media attention, what has Michel Thibodeau gained? Nothing more than cash settlements and a deepening of the division between the English and French of the country.
If there is to be any resolution to the historic animosity between Canada’s English and French cultures, the first step must be for the divisive federal bilingualism laws to be repealed, so that whiny, nothing-better-to-do-but-make-trouble Francophones like Thibodeau and Caron stop trying to force their language and their culture on the rest of us.
The Frogs need to shut the hell up.
ferme ta bouche is a politer way to say shutup, ferme ta gueule is considered very rude heh. I misspelled it the first time around.
And some blogpimps aren’t bright enough to ever reply to their own threads.
So what?
Its their culture and they are proud of it. Im sure you would be equally a “whiny wuss” if you went to california and couldnt find someone who spoke english, oh wait..
The wife and I were in Quebec (city) on a vacation about the time the Quebecers were taking down all the bilingual English-French street signs and replacing them with French only. We'd stopped in a store to purchase some gifts for friends. I asked the young lady behind the counter (in English) a question. She snottily responded that Canada was a bilingual country and why didn't I ask my question in the “cultivated” French language?
My reply went something like this: “Young lady, I believe you have a point about being bilingual in today's world. However, my wife and I are from Chicago. If, for some reason, I wanted to become bilingual I would learn Spanish and not French. We have very few French speakers in Chicago, but we have a ton of Hispanics that speak Spanish. Excuse us, but we have decided to take our business elsewhere.”
The wife and I left the store as the stupid twit of a clerk proceeded to bad mouth the Yanks in French-Canadian.
I am glad that they are proud of their culture. I am proud of the accomplishments of my French-Canadian ancestors. Of course I would be a whiney wuss if I couldn’t find someone who spoke English while on a trip in America. I’d probably be more of a ranting beyotch than a whiney wuss though. LOL! Thank you for your input.
Haha I lived in Montreal for 2 years, and its a wonderful place and completely bilingual. I dont even attempt to speak french eventhough I speak very well and with a more french accent than the quebecois do, I never could really understand them and when I first heard them I almost burst out laughing. Outside of montreal they are extremely french though so I wouldnt be surprised at the rudeness of some of them.
Its kind of the opposite for France, where the rudest people are in Paris and the friendliest people ever are in the more rural areas and smaller cities.
Again, the twit of a saleswoman, got crosswise with Kim and her temper flared. Her husband saw that his wife was about to smack the obnoxious French-Canadian in her pie hole. Not wanting to get arrested in Canada, he bundled Kim off to the car and left everything on the counter of the store.
Roughly, Ferme la *gueule* (aka pie hole,et al)
