This tweet is appalling. Odious. Have you fallen down the rabbit hole so far you have forgotten Matthew 25:31-46? Here, let me quote it for you, and for readers who may not be familiar with it:
From the New International Version:
31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
37 Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?
40 The King will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
41 Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.
44 They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?
45 He will reply, Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.
46 Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
Rick Warren is taking heat from the left for tweeting the truth on Taxes.
STEALING money from people to provide for the poor is NOT what Jesus had in mind...they sure love the Scriptures when it furthers their agenda, but that talk about homosexuality..? Forgeddabout it!
By the way, Karoli, Jesus is not saying that Caesar should confiscate money from individuals to take care of the needy. He is saying that YOU should take money out of YOUR OWN pocket to help them.
Demanding that the law force others to "help the needy" is thievery, not compassion.
Like the verse that says, He who does not WORK, shall NOT eat...
I am endlessly amazed at the leftists who apparently believe that paying their taxes fulfills Jesus’s command to care for the poor, and they need do nothing on a personal level.
Yet what Jesus is calling for here is very personal involvement, one to one, neighbor helping neighbor, the very thing leftists do not want to have to do, become personally involved.
Anyone who can’t tell the difference between giving freely to actually help the needy, and rendering unto Caesar (who isn’t needy), needs to do something other than cut and paste with his Bible.
The government isn’t Christ; taxes aren’t given.
That is exactly right! Christianity is about the individual and their personal behavior.
I'm very happy to see him say this.
How about 2 Thessalonians 3:10 :
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.
Waiting for liberals to make donations to the Federal government because they want taxes raised.....~crickets~
Same here. Looks like the taxation is finally starting to catch up with Warren.
I was really impressed. He did back track a bit but I’m glad to see that his thinking is more on the right track than not.
Good verse. I’ll have to remember it.
Then there is 1 Timothy 5:8...
"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."
did anybody mention on the presidential election cycles, that Rick Warren is the MAIN CLOWN giving the DEMS political cover, even though they advocate for Partial birth abortion?
Sorry Rick, some of us have memories longer than 5 minutes and we remember your support of Gore and Clinton.
Of course Jesus called Matthew away from being a tax collector to become a disciple. If he loved taxes so much then why would he take away the chief tax collector and place him in ministry?
Taxes have nothing to do with helping the poor. It is about helping six figure bureaucrats. I believe it was Jesus who said the poor you will always have with you.
Rich is right about taxes but he is dead wrong about God and the Bible.
Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels."
Yikes!

Here’s another one:
Marxists want us to pervert justice by favoring the poor. Leviticus 19:15 “is a helpful correction” to that notion.

More:
“[Some are involved in] a disastrous confusion between the poor of the Scripture and the proletariat of Marx.” ~ Pope Benedict XVI (Theologies of Liberation)
C.S. Lewis:
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under live robber barons than under omnipotent moral busibodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good, will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
Good point.
Paul loved everyone with the love of Christ, but he had little patience for leeches that expected others to take care of them. He said that he, though he had a right, as an apostle, to live on the gifts of his fellow Christians, preferred to provide for himself when he could.
There is nothing Christian about welfare. There is certainly nothing Christian about supporting people in immorality and subsidizing ungodliness.
To all the “Christian Left” I would like to say, “Owww. Sorry, wrong answer, but thanks for playing.”
