Alabama Leaders Slam Justice Department for Suing Over Immigration Law

Stand With Arizona

Alabama GOP leaders slammed Eric Holder and the Department of Justice for suing the state over H.B. 56, saying the Federal failure to secure the border and enforce immigration laws has compelled the states to act. And they showed strong defiance that they would prevail against Holder and his ACLU legal team.

Mike Hubbard, the Alabama House Speaker said:

“Make no mistake, this lawsuit will not undo Alabama’s immigration law. If the court finds problems with parts of the law, tweaks can be made,” Mr. Hubbard said. “But Alabama is not going to be a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants. Alabama will have a strict immigration law and we will enforce it.”
Holder's DOJ filed suit against Alabama's outstanding immigration law on August 1st, despite such laws having strong support from the American People. A July 15 Rasmussen Poll showed that a whopping 67% of Americans (with just 22% opposed) support states like Alabama and Arizona passing state laws to enforce immigration law when the Federal government fails to act. And this issue promises to be a big battleground in next year's elections.

But all Alabama is trying to do is to rein in the massive costs of illegal aliens to state taxpayers, and curtail employment of illegals which has so devastated Alabama's economy and unemployment. Illegal aliens cost Alabama $298 million annually, and Federal malfeasance has permitted Alabama’s illegal immigrant population to increase by nearly 400 percent over the past decade.

As Alabama's Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh said:

“With almost one out of every 10 Alabamians looking for a job, we need to make sure that legal Alabama residents are not being passed over for employment in lieu of those who are here illegally.”
In other words, while Eric Holder is focused on politics and pandering to groups such as the National Council of La Raza ("The Race"), Alabama's GOP leaders are concerned with JOBS, and the destructive impact illegal aliens have against Alabama workers.

Illegal Immigration Advocate: a person who beleives that somebody who takes the cafeteria approach to the law will somehow make a model citizen.

The self serving Federal Government has become a new super state with rights better than other states, just plainly occupying them while letting terror states abroad like Mexico get more benefits. This is completely irrational and petty the way it is set up.

I.e, welcome to the metrosexual marxist PC economy of short sightedness and mission trashing.

La Raza Funding Skyrockets After Obama Hires La Raza VP
Judicial Watch | June 17, 2011
FR Posted on Friday, June 17, 2011 by jazusamo

A Judicial Watch investigation reveals that federal funding for a Mexican La Raza group that for years has raked in millions of taxpayer dollars has skyrocketed since one of its top officials got a job in the Obama White House. The influential and politically-connected National Council of La Raza (NCLR) has long benefitted from Uncle Sam’s largess but the group has made a killing since Obama hired its senior vice president (Cecilia Muñoz) in 2009 to be his director of intergovernmental affairs.

Ignored by the mainstream media, Judicial Watch covered the appointment because the president issued a special “ethics waiver” to bring Muñoz aboard since it violated his own lobbyist ban. At the pro illegal immigration NCLR, Muñoz supervised all legislative and advocacy activities on the state and local levels and she was heavily involved in the congressional immigration battles that took place in the George W. Bush Administration.

She also brought in a steady flow of government cash that’s allowed the Washington D.C.-based group to expand nationwide and promote its leftist, open-borders agenda via a network of community organizations dedicated to serving Latinos.Among them are a variety of local groups that provide social services, housing counseling and farm worker assistance as well as publicly-funded charter schools that promote radical Chicano curriculums. Judicial Watch published a special report on this a few years ago.

This week a JW probe has uncovered details of the alarming increase in federal funding that these NCLR groups have received since Muñoz joined the Obama Administration.

In fact, the government cash more than doubled the year Muñoz joined the White House, from $4.1 million to $11 million. Not surprisingly, a big chunk of the money (60%) came from the Department of Labor, which is headed by a former California congresswoman (Hilda Solis) with close ties to the La Raza movement. Since Obama named her Labor Secretary, Solis has launched a nationwide campaign to protect illegal immigrant workers in the U.S.

Just this week Solis penned declarations with Guatemala and Nicaragua to preserve the rights of their migrants. The NCLR also received additional taxpayer dollars from other federal agencies in 2010, the JW probe found. The Department of Housing and Urban Development doled out $2.5 million for housing counseling, the Department of Education contributed nearly $800,000 and the Centers for Disease Control a quarter of a million. Additionally, NCLR affiliates nationwide raked in tens of millions of government grant and recovery dollars last year thanks to the Muñoz factor. An offshoot called Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) saw its federal funding nearly double to $18.3 million following Muñoz’ appointment.

A social service and legal assistance organization (Ayuda Inc.) that didn’t receive any federal funding between 2005 and 2008 got $600,000 in 2009 and $548,000 in 2010 from the Department of Justice. The group provides immigration law services and guarantees confidentiality to assure illegal aliens that they won’t be reported to authorities.

Damn straight!

And let me say this to the various liberal and leftists of this country:

You always put down my state over race relations; harping on how whites keep the blacks down and us being such anti-African American bigots and all that crap that really hasn’t been like that since George Wallace and Bull Conner are long dead and forgotten..... In other words, it’s 50 years since the 1960’s—give us a break. But I digress....

Now Mr Neal Young wannabe, do you have any CLUE at all how massive illegal immigration into this state effects blacks? Because if you don’t, I’ll gladly give you a clue:

Illegal immigrants are taking all the jobs, and black unemployment in some Alabama counties is at 75-90%!!!!!

Illegals coming here are hurting the people least able to do something about it. You should be glad we’re trying to help our black brothers and sisters regain their jobs. That won’t happen with hordes of cheaper for hire illegal immigrants swarming the state!

This is not an original thought from me but is true...and disturbing.

Notice how the Obama administration is willing to do whatever it takes to interfere with the immigration policies of AZ and Al, but when it comes to "sanctuary" cities does nothing, not one blessed thing?

Thanks EdReform.

Pinging the group on a peripherally related topic. Looks like Alabama is not inclined to abide eric holder and his merry band of gypsies, tramps and thieves.

Every state that “Just Us” sues over their enforcing immigration law should grow a pair of figs and tell Holder &Co. to [unladylike words], and go read the Constitution.

I pray to God for complete and utter destruction of the Dims' and RINOs' plans to put our children and grandchildren to work on the government plantation. To that end conservatives and independents are going to HAVE to hike up our britches, roll up our sleeves and stand in the breach against these evil bastards. Their defeat in 2012 will have to be so breathtaking as to leave no doubt amongst politburo members and their fellow travelers that their nanny state marxism and all it entails have been utterly repudiated and declared officially DEAD in America.

It's the least we can do for future generations of Americans. May God help us and guide us.

I think I want to move to Alabama...

It really is a good place to live. The climate is very mild, there is beautiful scenery, and the people there--and I know this from a great deal of personal experience, having grown up there--are really, really nice.
