Because an active-duty officer refusing to be deployed to a combat zone is a different kettle of fish than a non-com optometrist who was on leave pending a psych discharge in a couple of days.
Because, as I said, they don't want to. They don't want to go to the trouble and expense and they don't want to give this guy the attention he wants. Especially since it appears he hasn't done anything except shoot his mouth off on the internet, if their story about him not being AWOL is true. They're getting rid of him in a matter of days. End of story.

SSGT Moran stated publicly Obama is an enemy of the United States. The result...an honorable discharge.
This is clearly damage control.
More importantly, the military allows enlisted men more latitude in political speech than they do officers. Officers are prohibited from criticizing the president or civilian authorities under Article 88 of the UCMJ. Enlisted men have no such restriction, under Articles 89 and 91, which only cover respect toward commissioned and non-commissioned officers

The Gooberment via, voluntary separation, could discharge SSgt Moran for government convenience as a “conscious objector.”
or
Involuntary separate him for the “convenience of the government” for numerous reasons that could come to their minds.
How about in the interest of national security [Obama security to protect his usurpation!] as one of many official reasons.
I know how Moran characterized it before he decided to bring Obama's citizenship into it. On May 17, he posted"I’m getting discharged soon from the military for saying the homosexuality is sin in the Bible."
And on August 11, he posted, "I was due to get out soon under an administrative and Honorable discharge for a “Personality Disorder”, because I told them homosexuality is sin."
And I know that the military said
"“He is currently outprocessing for discharge from the Air Force which was previously approved by his commander on August 4th,” the statement reads. “While we are aware of the comments that appear on various Web sites attributed to Staff Sgt. Moran, officials with United States Air Forces in Europe will not discuss nor characterize those comments."
Or, just maybe, they could let his honorable discharge for a “Personality disorder” already well in the works go forward and be rid of him.
I highly doubt that.

The military not wanting to "go to the trouble and expense" really? Wow. Just how expensive and troublesome would it have been to change his discharge to even general...not to mention dishonorable?
And, as for "shooting his mouth off"...yeah, the military is very lenient to enlisted personnel who shoot their mouth off and publicly state they believe the CinC is a criminal and should be arrested. Just everyday occurrences in the military I'm sure. No biggie. Oh..and to go ahead and give him that well earned Honorable Discharge any way.

Looks like you are right about something. Finally. SSgt. Moran won't be prosecuted for being AWOL, because he isn't AWOL. He is on leave, awaiting discharge.
Congratulations. He got me! I shouldn't have gone off all cocked, talking about his punishment for being AWOL. After all, the only evidence we had that he was AWOL was his word. That should have been my first clue that he wasn't AWOL -- he claimed that he was. (Smacks self on forehead) Teach me to ever believe a Birther about anything.
