I wouldn't know. What does my screen name have to do with it?
BTW...how do we know he is AWOL? Because he says so?

Did he makes his comments while still in the Air Force? Including his call for his (then) Commander in Chief to be arrested for being a criminal?
Once on an "approved leave status", does the Air Force have it's hands tied for disciplinary action...including reducing his discharge below that of Honorable?

Well, (and pay attention here)
YOU said it!
And I quote:
He just decided to go AWOL right before it was final.
I know that was a long time ago, but do try to stay caught up.

From your link,
"Theres just one hitch: Moran, an ophthalmology technician assigned to the 86th Airlift Wing at Ramstein Air Base, is actually on an approved leave status, according to a statement released by U.S. Air Forces in Europe. He is currently outprocessing for discharge from the Air Force which was previously approved by his commander on August 4th,"
But it is not leave charge to a service members account. And to be more accurate, SSgt Moran is in a time period of when local or squadron policy affords service members a period of time to outprocess from his assignment. This can anywhere between a few days to a month.
