So here we have "former-Bush official Brad Blakeman" being quoted by the media as attacking Tea Party stalwart Ryan Rhodes over Rhodes's confrontation with Obama. It seems that every time we see the term "former Bush," "former Reagan," and for all I know "former Coolidge" official, it involves some venerable GOP figure calling airstrikes in on his or her own unit. I guess it's slow down at the shuffleboard court.
It's possible to read all sorts of things into this, none of them good. About the gentlest would be that Blakeman is missing the point. Ryan is the farthest thing in the world from a political vagabond. As the founder of the Iowa Tea Party, he is a crucial figure in one of the most important political movements of the past half-century. He confronted Obama not because voices told him to or to get his picture in the paper, but to issue a rebuke, a necessary rebuke. Obama had it coming for all sorts of reasons above and beyond the issue at hand. (Joe Biden's charming reference to the Tea Parties as "terrorists," an incident that seems to have evaded Blakeman's attention.) In a just world, he'd be hearing the same thing at every whistle-stop, fundraiser, campaign speech, and vacation cookout from now until Krugman's aggressive aliens arrive from Tau Ceti. Ryan is to be applauded for doing something few would dare attempt, and bringing it off with considerable panache.
Blakeman is, of course, making the argument that we should "respect the office, and not the man." A perfectly legitimate stance, in normal times and dealing with normal politicians....

Wow - he nails it. Thanks for the link.
It’s racist terrorism to heckle or confront Obammy....But it was ok to confront and heckle the Bushitlercheneyhaloburton.
How long do we allow them to tell us to stick to the Marquess of Queensberry rules while the Left beats us over the head with metal chairs? It's time they be called out for being either a clueless fools or in the tank for the Left. And that includes the FReepers who peddling the same nonsense.
We need to “get in Obama’s face” Big time and at every opportunity. Give him a taste of “community organizing” in action.
FUBO and the wide assed wookie too!
It’s not just asking confrontational questions.
After a couple years of support for the Global War on Terror (GWOT), the Left began to fear Bush’s huge popularity. With the 2004 election approaching, they decided to politicize the war and attacked GWOT and Dubya mercilessly after that and for the rest of his presidency. Our troops were fighting and dying while Durbin, Reid, Kerry, and Kennedy were giving aid and comfort to the enemy from the floor of the United States Senate. This used to be considered treason.
Well let’s follow the past advice from the annointed one, shall we?
Get out there and get in their faces. / They bring a knife we’ll bring a gun.
To say that is correct, but irrelevant to the situation. Rhodes was quite respectful, he didn't call Obama a dick or a pompous entitled ass, or a crooked socialist, collectivist, totalitarian communist tyrant thug from the hood, he just asked a perfectly rational question. Respect doesn't require out-and-out groveling credulity.
They are worse than that...they are the political version of conscientious onjectors.
They are worse than that...they are the political version of conscientious objectors.
