Agreed. I used to lecture on what I called the 3D cone of argument: logical, emotional, physical and spiritual. Once you move from logical, you slide quickly into degenerating and self-reinforcing arguments and statements of the other types, the spiritual corruption being by far the most dangerous.

I never thought of my concept as particularly novel, either, but it did impact a few people.

It’s interesting that I was just thinking this morning that using curse words in making a point, which I have been guilty of doing, means you automatically lose an argument, since the opposing party has found a weak point and will use that to ‘squeeze.’
