...there’s no such thing as a free lunch.
Didn’t we all learn that in our micro and macro econ classes? I did at the University of Idaho. How could Obama skip through Columbia and Harvard without learning that?

Awesome. So basic.

We have yet to see whether Perry is a real thoroughbred.

So, is Palin(™) a thoroughbred?

That's actually a very important point.

Texans as a whole are very jingoistic, and not very bright.

So running as a "good ole' boy" against the lefties there is like taking votes from baby, so to speak.

But the kind of swagger which plays in Texas does not play in the rest of the (higher-IQ) states.

And given that Perry's been around Texas long enough to have ensconced a number of his peeps, thereby making him an insider (big fish in a statewide pond) --

it makes the superiority of Sarah (cleaned out the corruption in her own party) all the more glaringly obvious.

Thanks for posting this, Windflier.

Cheers!

From a related story near the article about the reasons why Sarah might be waiting to enter, comes this comment: "But as Sarah has stated, “What more can they say about us?”

This is one of Sarah's strengths. So much has been thrown at her that she can just laugh at the barbs now, and cheerfully answer. She's already thrown all of the accusations back in the faces of those who made them, and voiced her indignation at the times those were made. Now she can just say as Ronald Reagan did, "There they go again".

He's got to survive the coming Palinoscopy. We'll see whether he does, or not. Methinks it's gonna hurt...

What's Palin got to do with this? I was talking about Rick Perry.

She really gets to you, doesn't she?

To quote a character from one of my favorite novels, "Was that your foot? Beg pardon, I'm sure."

All I can say is that Texas seems to go through life with a chip on its shoulder, backed up by a willingness to pick fights for little or no reason.

Must be the Scots blood extant down there.

I'm up in Minnesota, where in contrast to their Viking forbears, most of the men are extremely metrosexual. During the World Series in 1991, there was a big banner in the Metrodome with a snow-covered apple on it, which read, "We prefer the Minne-apple."

As Syndrome said in The Incredibles, "Lame, Lame, Lame, Lame, Lame!"

But the women here -- land of 10,000 blondes. I married one (the legendary Mrs. Whiskers).

But I still prefer -20oF to 104o F and humid: I went to visit Texas once on business (in July I think) and I knew I was in trouble when the car at the airport had its AC pre-set to max *and* recycle the moment I climbed in...

Cheers!

Nice friends you have here Windflier. Not only do they use words like “jingoistic” (the leftist term for “patriotic”), we’re treated to insults about the intelligence of the most conservative state in the union. Maybe y’all are trying to peel off some of the Romney voters in Massachusetts and Minnesota with the “Texans are dumb” strategy. I don’t think it will work too well.

No, it's just that Perry seems to me personally to be the very stereotype of EVERYTHING I dislike about Texas.

The fact that he's a flaming RINO doesn't help.

(I don't mind slogans if they are *sincere* and they are reflected in a person's actions: but if they are used to get people chanting without thought (Perry is the RINO answer to Obama, with a little political theft of Palin's retail politicking) then I resent it.)

Romney fan? No way in hell! I'm a Maillard-reaction (more than just dyed-in-the-wool, see the Shroud of Turin for more info) Sarah Palin fan.

Screw Romney, Screw Perry.

I could live with Bachmann or Cain.

GO SARAH!

Cheers!

If accusing Texans of being low IQ jingoists is going to be the new Palin campaign strategy, then her run will tank much sooner than I thought. Maybe I should up the odds from 5 to 1 to 10 to 1 that she won’t win the nomination.

It's not a campaign strategy: it's disinfectant against Perry astroturf trolls.

As well as all too accurate in many cases.

Cheers!

I wonder why so many yankees are moving here if it doesn’t play well. Maybe they are just coming here to raise our collective IQ? Oh joy then we will be smart enough to Let unions control us and democrats rule us/S

Brother, statements like that always lead to hard feelings and diminished camaraderie. I gave you a mulligan for the first insult, but you've gone and done it again. Talk about picking a fight for little or no reason. What on earth have we Texans ever done to you?

Must be the Scots blood extant down there.

Now you want to insult my ancestors too? Sheeesh....

I have no idea where that came from. I am a Texan, after all.
