Are you bored with the recent rash of LED headlights, tailights and daytime running lamps? BMW might just have something for you, then, because it's working on a new way to illuminate your commute. We're talking about lasers here people... the future is (almost) now!
BMW believes that, just as halogen beget LED, LED begets laser lights. If true, laser technology will allow its cars to utilize lighting systems that are more efficient than current setups while also allowing for light patterns that are more consistent and brighter. In addition to the greater illumination possibilities, the diodes used would be significantly smaller than LED units.

...with the added benefit of being able to focus and aim the lasers and blind anybody down range you don’t like.
But are they giant “lasers”?
I believe I'd be in the market for my first Beemer.
Useful if you’re bad tempered. It’s a start, anyway.
Good for a little return fire for when the police point a laser at me.
Yeah, just what I need. The BMW equipped versions won’t be a problem - focused light is blinding with or without “frikkin lasers”. What kills me will be the folks who buy the aftermarket ones, or retrofit the system onto their unfocused lights.
I run a 4100K headlight setup on my halogens. And my friend installed a new aftermarket HID system on his same car (A 91 Acura). Before that, he had an actual junkyard BMW HID retrofit (Until the fire.)
My headlights are more effective than his because of the properties of the bulb. The HID bulb isn’t made for the housing, so the bright light just turns into a raving mess on those in front of him. Score one for me.
Appropriate for the porcupine car.

Hey, if you’re in a new electric hybrid that uses a net technology cacitor instead of a battery, you could use it to OBLITERATE anyone downrange. Cool.
Throw it into an Austin Martin and, “Look Ma, I’m James Bond!”
This is pretty cool, btw.
net technology cacitor = new technology capacitor
Clear out the traffic ahead.
I dunno... That looks like what happens everytime someone starts a 318 or a 2002.
It might look cool in a Aston Martin as well.
Every BMW becomes a rolling $h'thouse soon as a few years roll by, I love'um, but brands like Toyota eat their lunch with real quality in terms of lasting intactness.
