A hacker group broke into the NBC News Twitter account Friday, sending a series of tweets about a terror attack on Ground Zero to the news outlets 129,000 followers.
Flight 4782 is not responding, suspected hijacking. One plane just hit Ground Zero site at 5:47. #groundzeroattacked, the account wrote.
This is not a joke, Ground Zero has just been attacked, the account tweeted. Were attempting to get reporters on the scene.
No such terror attack happened at Ground Zero in Manhattan Friday evening. A group calling themselves The Script Kiddies claimed responsibility for the hack, advertising its own Twitter account, which was suspended immediately after the incident.

Use the social networks technology to nail the b@stards.
These psycho hackers can do anything.
I remember being supportive of ‘Anonymous’ in the past when they were going after the $cions, but they have transformed into something much more nefarious. I’m also suspecting that there is $$$$ involved and they are getting backing from ‘somewhere’ (they’ve started to accept BitCoin to fund ‘activities’). Reason I know this is because I lurk on their IRC channels from time to time.
Probably some college students who have no sense of American history.
In all likely hood they have never heard: "Remember the Maine" or "The Battle of Alamance".
No comprehension of American history what so ever.
CBS also issued a fake tweet saying that Steve Jobs had died
Not joking, I just don't want to get banned.
So I'll just substitute Calvin and Hobbes.
NBC news Twitter only has 129,000 followers!
“Script Kiddies” is a demeaning tern used by internet security experts to refer to hackers who use pre written (and usually easily available) code to do hacks such as DNS (Denial of Service) attacks. Hackers dislike being called a Script Kiddie. Its not a new term, and the hackers are calling themselves that in attempt to be funny.
