THE TRUTH FOUND A VOICE IN RICK PERRY

FoxNews-Google GOP Primary Debate [September 22, 2011] Gov. Rick Perry: [snip] ………If you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought there, through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart. We need to be educating these children because they will become a drag on our society. I think that's what Texans wanted to do. Out of 181 members of the Texas legislature, when this issue came up -- only four dissenting votes. This was a state issue. Texas voted on it. And I still support it greatly. [end] Texas Gov. Rick Perry responding to a question by Chris Wallace

Gov. Rick Perry has stated (for years) that the U.S. border with Mexico must be sealed. He has requested assistance (many people on the ground and drones in the air for Intel – he has studied how this is done in Israel). As Governor of Texas, he has been rebuked in person by the current president, who refuses his pleas for the Federal government to do its duty and provide the necessary means by which to seal our country’s international border with Mexico. The governor’s written requests go unheeded.

Texas spends hundreds of millions of dollars of state money to defend its border with Mexico. An elite Texas Ranger unit, put together by Perry, is working to hold the line on our border. Rick Perry has stated that fences do work in urban areas but are not effective, let alone feasible, along the 2000 mile Mexico - U.S. border (1200 miles in Texas alone). The Federal government ignores this problem, while at the same time blaming and punishing border governors when they try to protect their states. People in other states, without understanding the facts, blame border governors when this federally manufactured problem spreads into their states.

President Obama believes security is just fine on the border (better in fact than before he took office) and frankly, he’s following past examples where foreigners are allowed to cross into the U.S., where those with work visas are allowed to slip into U.S. society without any earnest, federal or court action to prevent it, where states are not allowed to ask children their legal status before attending school, where healthcare is accessible to everyone and where federal “social justice” programs have been put into place, thus beginning the progressive process of teaching new generations that it is “normal” to be dependent on government largess. [funded by those “more fortunate” Americans]

Then, periodically, another couple of generations are proclaimed by the federal government to be in the U.S. legally, by magnanimously proclaiming, “You can come out of the dark now and stay.” [sign up here for your Democratic Party voter card]

Rick Perry, as president, wants to finally seal the border and stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs – stop those vile cartels who traffic in human beings and drugs, and secure a dangerous, porous entry used by terrorists seeking to destroy America. The current administration is willfully enabling those who prefer border security remain as it is, those who characteristically (for self interest) want to avoid addressing and dealing with these problems.

Undeniably, Governor Perry is the GOP candidate most familiar with this issue and the problems associated with it. Texas has a long and rich history with Mexico. Mexico is the number one trading partner with America. Many U.S. citizens have Mexican ancestors who are proud Texans and Americans, many who have, are, and are willing to fight for America. Hispanics are the largest minority living in the United States. They have a high birth rate and are a major minority voting demographic. This didn’t happen because Texas shares over 1200 miles of international border with Mexico. The current magnitude of the problem, along with the number of the illegals in Texas and the United States, has everything to do with historic and current Federal inaction.

The Federal government looks to the states and tells them to “deal with it.” So state governments and their citizens have to “deal with” crime and a fast growing, uneducated population that puts a huge strain on state and federal resources. The resulting fall out for state government is, “you’re damned if you do and "you’re damned if you don’t." Gov. Perry and the Texas Legislature have accepted the criticism for taking the “damned if we do” path because they’re “dealing with it” first hand and Texans understand that "we're damned if we don't." These children are here, their potential and future has been put on our watch -- it is a practical and human decision and as Rick Perry said, “You don’t have a heart if you don’t.”

In 2001 the Texas Legislature voted in an Act (signed by Gov. Rick Perry) allowing children brought to the U.S. illegally (basically stateless people) by their parents, who complete 3 years of high school in Texas (graduate and want to attend college) to apply for U.S. citizenship and pay instate tuition. Their “anchor baby” siblings have this right by virtue of the 14th Amendment (that gave citizenship to children of slaves – slavery was abolished by the 13th Amendment). If the country wants to abolish “anchor babies,” a majority of states need to vote for a change to the U.S. Constitution. The Texas education program is called the Texas Dream Act. The Texas Dream Act is not the same as the rejected Federal Dream Act proposed by the U.S. Senate because that federal legislation in totality and reality was an immigration bill.

The purpose of the Texas Dream Act is to have successful, educated citizens contributing toward a strong economy -- not unemployed or underemployed school dropouts who place a huge drain on our system [and begin generational poverty in their communities]. As past Federal actions have repeatedly shown Texas, illegal immigrants most likely will be allowed to stay. So the smart thing to do is allow them to pay instate tuition and be contributing citizens versus benefits receiving citizens. Gov. Mitt Romney does not agree with this and in fact rejected this approach in Massachusetts.

The truth found a voice in Rick Perry. Gov. Perry has said and believes that Conservative Ascendancy is how we will bring America back from the brink. Besides getting Americans working again we need to show them the value of conservatism and how those values encourage and support strong families and a free country.

Last night former Gov. Mitt Romney sounded like a “Snidley Whiplash-Simon Legree” character, while Gov. Rick Perry was “Dudley do right” looking after “Little Orphan Annie.” How do you think Barack Obama will (or won't) play these sound bites in his re-election bid for 4 more years?

Mitt Romney wants the status quo, which continues to feed the pipeline of generational, programmed victims -- driving trapped and dependent people into the arms of the growing army of the Democratic “fight for social justice” Party. Rick Perry wants to change the status quo and bring more voters into freedom – businesses owners, entrepreneurs eager to join the Republican Conservative Ascendancy Party – no matter what their last name or color, or gender or faith. And the border must be sealed first in order to do this.

Do the math. Rush Limbaugh has. Rush, like Gov. Perry, wants everyone to succeed (not secede). Rush, like Rick Perry, knows we’re at the crossroads that will decided the future path of the United States (and the world). Will it be Perpetual Dependency or Conservative Ascendancy? Democratic Party leaders are herding us into warring camps hoping to take us on the road to socialism. The states must take back power from the Federal government and get this country back on the road to free market capitalism.

This isn’t a Sound Bite issue.

“Nice try” Mitt.

No, you are making several unfounded assumptions all in one post. Ron Paul while he is an interesting gadfly, his reasoning is faulty and I don’t want him near the presidency.

I just see us running out of money to fight the never ending war on drugs that has only led to militarized police forces while never coming close to eradicating drugs. Why would the police want drugs eradicated? If they managed to eradicate drugs, then they would stop getting cool toys to further invade the peoples privacy.

If you decrease the supply of an item in the market place the price goes up. The seller that has the item for sale can name their price. Government tries to stomp on this when it applies to gasoline, but the drug seller would have no one to put a cap on their asking price if the supply had dramatically been reduced. The drug sellers costs may have gone up, but the government has squashed the low level competition. It takes a government to create a monopoly. We can’t even keep drugs out of our prisons now. Don’t ask me how with fences, armed guards and 24/7 security everywhere it doesn’t seem possible.

What groups would find it to their advantage? Russian mafia? Chinese gangs? Not saying they’re not already doing the trade, but I know they would appreciate the government clearing out the low level players.

I don’t support open borders, just the silliness of trying to build a fence. Will your fence surround the entire lower 48 states? Say we build the wall from the southern tip of Texas to the coast of California. Is that the only way the Mexicans can get into the USA?

We can reduce the flow much cheaper with electronic surveillance and people ready to respond when we see someone coming across. It is the damned Federal government’s job to do this.

You have a screw loose. For the police, trying to fight the drug trade is one of the most dangerous things they do, especially those undercover. The idea that the police want the the illicit sale of drugs to continue along with the many lives that are destroyed is just some tin foil hat nonsense not worthy of being addressed on this site.

If you decrease the supply of an item in the market place the price goes up. The seller that has the item for sale can name their price.

You don't seem to understand how the marketplace works. Demand is what drives supply, not the other way around. Do you really think the drug lords want to restrict their supply so they can raise prices? You want to expand your customer base (volume) so you can make more money. And there is plenty of competition out there in terms of supply.

I don’t support open borders, just the silliness of trying to build a fence. Will your fence surround the entire lower 48 states? Say we build the wall from the southern tip of Texas to the coast of California. Is that the only way the Mexicans can get into the USA?

How dumb are you? You create some silly strawman and then proceed to ridicule it. Where did I ever state that we should build a fence along the entire US border? Using your logic, I guess the choice is between building no physical barriers at all or building a fence on every square inch of our border. How stupid must one be to come to that conclusion.

In order to have productive discourse, you need at least two informed, sane parties. You fail on both counts.

Cain Upsets Perry in Florida Republican Straw Poll
Saturday, September 24, 2011 06:41 PM

ORLANDO, Fla. - Former pizza executive Herman Cain surprised rival Rick Perry with an upset victory Saturday in a nonbinding Republican presidential straw poll in Florida, dealing a disappointing loss to the Texas governor two days after a shaky debate performance.

herman cain florida straw pollPerry, leading in the polls for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, had needed a victory in the key test of strength in a crucial state to salve the wounds left over from a debate with his rivals Thursday in which he struggled.

Herman Cain lost my respect when he chose Romney as his hypothetical VP on Thursday night. His win in Florida is no big deal, Ron Paul and Huckabee had the straw polls this time, 2007.

You misunderstand me. I'm not at all invested in a Perry presidency. The idea makes me vaguely ill. It's just that I can read the writing on the wall.

A candidate can afford to annoy his base when his base has no place else to go. Conservatives may toy with the Gingrich or Cain candidacies just as they toyed with the Bachmann candidacy for a time. But when push comes to shove and the choice is Romney or Perry, Perry will win.

This isn't what I want to happen. But it will happen. Perry won't be very good. With luck he may be good enough.

One of them also has to understand economics. I don’t have time to teach economics, my schedule is full.

Its too early to know whats going to happen. Last cycle this time Guliani and Huckabee were leading. Look how that turned out. There is no handwriting on the wall this early. Its a wide open race at this point.

When Governor Perry made that “heartless” remark he was in the passion of the moment. He was frustrated that with all the effort his state has done to battle the continuous invasion of illegals across the border. He was feeling the criticism after all that he has done and the more tan $400 million spent defending that border. I can understand that he felt the criticism was heartless when it did not give credit for the courageous job his state has done to stem the tide. But, after that remark, he got it from his wife. She told him it was wrong. And Governor Perry realized how wrong he was. He realized that it was through ignorance that people blame him for not controlling the border. He realized that he needed to do a better job educating people that it was the Obama Regime that was failing in the job to secure the border.

I find that the in-state tuition for illegals was a symptom of the Obama Regimes failure to secure the border. Obama was the cause and the tuition thing was the result. That tuition thing was what the people of Texas wanted and Governor Perry helped get it done.

Then you are on board with Governor Perry. He wants policy that does the same thing you want. He wants sanctuary cities abolished, no driver’s licenses for illegals and voter I.D. required to vote. Perry vetoed a bill that would have allowed the use of a matricula consular, which is an ID card used by the Mexican government, to get a driver’s license in Texas. Without a driver’s license, an illegal can’t do anything in Texas.

Perry supported Arizona when the Obama Administration sued to overturn Arizona law that wanted to check immigration status for law breakers.

The Texas Legislature determined the payment of in-state college tuition is available to all students who have lived in Texas for at least three years and graduated from a public high school. If you meet those requirements, you pay in-state tuition, whether you relocated from Oklahoma, Idaho, Canada or Mexico. The only difference is that Texas residents who aren’t documented must be on the path to pursue U.S. citizenship to be allowed to pay in-state tuition. There were a number of reasons the bill received widespread support among conservatives. Importantly, it has never had a cost to Texas taxpayers. In fact, our institutions of higher learning would actually lose tens of millions of dollars in lost tuition payments if the law were repealed.

The in-state tuition bill has not cost the Texas tax payer one dime of state money. In fact, Texas institutions of higher learning would actually lose tens of millions of dollars in lost tuition payments if the law were repealed. This money is coming from the students and their families; not the Texas tax payer.

You argue that the people of Texas opposed the in-state tuition bill. Not so. The bill received wide spread support among conservatives throughout Texas. I do not know where you are coming from, but you are misrepresenting the facts about the public support that bill had and the bi-partisan support it got in its passage.

Even if the bill were repealed now, the Texas instituitons of higher learning would lose tens of millions of lost revenue from those children of illegals paying the in-state tuition. Those are dollars that don’t cost the Texas taxpayer one dime that are going into the state colleges.

I stopped reading your post when you asked, “Why give rights to those who broke our laws?” Think about it. Some of these kids were not even born yet when their parents crossed our border. Does that make them law breakers?

Thank You for having read to the point of not reading. I came to a conclusion on illegals (any illegals) be they from where they be, I lost, America lost, all law abiding Americans lost. My frustration was showing for, truth is, didn't want America to lose on this issue, but with the political climate and the invasion continuing at an ever quickening pace, and the fact that recently fifty thousand more lives of Americans have been lost to this lawlessness while the politicians twist in the wind, I had to make peace with myself and turn it over to God, otherwise would border on being insane. Now should one desire, one may say I am still insane. So be it. My opinion means nothing. Otherwise my warning would have been heeded long ago. Now I pray and mostly watch, and when I speak bluntly, I pray the party I am speaking with listens carefully.

1. YOU don’t know what you are talking about if you say the people of Texas supported instate tuition for illegals!

2. Institutions of higher learning get FAR more money than they can EFFECTIVELY spend as it is so cutting them off from SOME of the money they get from illegals would just be too darned bad in my book!

3. Those dollars ARE costing Texas Taxpayers big time even if the costs are not direct.

There is only one issue here and that is right and wrong! You are on the WRONG side!
