USAID Awards Another Job-Creation Contract in Colombia -- This Time: $90 Million
U.S. Trade & Aid Monitor ^ | Oct. 15, 2011 | Steve Peacock

A $90 million contract aimed at creating jobs as well as strengthening local governments in Colombia has been awarded to Chemonics International by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The Consolidation and Enhanced Livelihoods Initiative, or CELI, as it is known, seeks to sway Colombian citizens from participating in drug-related activities and to instead pursue legal livelihoods.

A U.S. Trade & Aid Monitor previously reported, USAID earlier this year separately awarded a $110 million contract to a different vendor to achieve similar goals across Colombia (see: U.S. Contractor to Help Colombia Establish 'Presence' in Former Coca-Eradication Zones, April 27, 2011).

Just my opinion, but I don't think a country that borrows 40 cents of every dollar it spends can afford stuff like this. Or billions to support the UN. Or other billions to Egypt, Pakistan, China, or anybody else who gets foreign aid.

The empire is collapsing.

There goes our taxpayer money to create jobs in other countries while we are still unemployed and the idiots still believe this a##hat when he says he’s creating jobs for the middleclass.....keep believing. I know you dont want to wake up and face the fact that you’ve been taken for a fool but you have..........all this time, how much longer do you have to wait?

Not true. The money typically goes to an organization operated by George Soros, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Warren Buffet or one of their cronies. Please don't get fooled into thinking that the Democrats have intentions of helping poor people.

Your clarification is greatly appreciated. I should have written "the stated goal of..." or else "the illusion of creating jobs (or even inserted a simple "allegedly" or "purportedly" in there somewhere.)
