Occupy Wall Street Movement Raises $300,000

Yep, the Occupy Wall Street movement is not just in the business of marching for an obscure anti-wealth, anti-capitalist agenda, but is also in the business of raising money, as they are now harboring nearly $300,000 in their bank account. According to the Associated Press:

Nearly $300,000 in cash has been donated through the movement’s website and by visitors to the park, said Bill Dobbs, a press liaison for Occupy Wall Street. The movement has an account at Amalgamated Bank, which bills itself as “the only 100 percent union-owned bank in the United States.”

Donated goods ranging from blankets and sleeping bags to cans of food and medical and hygienic supplies are being stored in a cavernous space donated by the United Federation of Teachers, which has offices in the building a block from Wall Street near the private park protesters occupy.

Hmm, I thought money was the root of all evil?

On a side note: donating "hygienic supplies" to these people is about as effective as donating Nicholas Sparks novels to college fraternities.

That isn’t very much money considering the way the media promotes them as a vast movement. Maybe they should take it down to Wall Street and invest it.

Why, how very capitalistic of them. Wonder which bank is holding this stash? They might be a good target for a boycott.

Insert The GodFather theme music here.

there are a few hundred loons in a city of millions, in a city which is mostly liberal and in a city which has one of the highest memberships of unions and ALL THEY GET IS A FEW HUNDRED.

Now this media which attacked the tea party like mad are now making it out that these layabouts are freedom fighters for the working class.

Here’s a few questions should be asking them.

You say you have no job but do you think being here in this stench will get you a job?
How many job interviews have you been to since you have been here?
Why do you protest wall street when it is wall street who gave a lot of money to the man you voted for.

AND HERE IS A GREAT QUESTION.

Under Bush the economy started to go down near the end of his term and you said it was Bush who ruined the economy.
You now say that the economy is being ruined by the rich, the banks and wall street so therefore based on that logic of yours ,. Why was it Bush’s fault when he was in but now your man is in it is not obama’s but the banks, ?

I’d ask them if they know how much of a percentage that is compared to the money Obammy gave to Solyndra.

I’m betting this will go the same way the cash went to Cindy Shehan’s group at that house in Texas. People threw cash at them when they were protesting Bush and 6 months later the cash was gone and they were begging for more money because they were going to be foreclosed on. They collected 10 times more than they needed to pay that mortgage.

This money will disappear too and the idiots will soon find another cause to throw money at.

A fool and his money, etc. etc.

Even if an organization called “Occupy Wall Street” has a bank account, there have to be actual people somewhere who are authorized signers on the account. Do we know who those people are?

Or are we to believe that all the kooks and crackpots in that park can just go over to the ATM and take money out of this communal bank account????

Something doesn’t add up. Somebody is collecting money and somebody may abscond with it.

Is Occupy Wall Street a charitable organization? What is their business? Will they file tax returns/reports as required by law? Who will claim the interest income on that bank account on their income tax returns?

This is too fishy. Something doesn’t add up.

agreed
I have been saying since the start that Van JOnes is talking to wall street doing a shakedown.
Give us money for next year like you did last time or we’ll be having more and more of these protests and to your door.

Also obama knows his numbers are tanking, he knows in a fair election he will not win and this is the radical lefts chance to change this country and he and the radical fringe left need a game changer

Is this the million civilian string security force he talked about , one to match and be as well funded as our military .

I saw today zero talking to the crowd, plenty of little kids there, shouldn’t they be in school and then he was off to a high school, shouldn’t they be learning at school not having him go to talk there and take their time away?

I am surprised no one has said this but zero said his million strong civilian security force to match that of the military

well here it is.

Wonder which bank is holding this stash?

Amalgamated (I think) - a fully union-owned bank.

Figures.
