Free Republic has been hearing from the Cold Fusion Seagulls all about how Andrea Rossi supposedly went to jail for fraud. It is not true. Here is the story, as represented by Steven Krivit, who is in enmity with Rossi. So it is a good place to find the set of facts that both sides can agree on.

This story is by Rossi himself. It is not by Krivit.

The links lead to ingandrearossi.net, which would be one of Andrea Rossi's websites, no?

Can you explain how Krivit figures into this particular material?

It doesn’t matter: the thing works, or it doesn’t. And if it does work, it wouldn’t matter if it was invented by Joe Isuzu himself.

This certainly puts a different spin on Rossi’s “troubles” with the law.

The Official Hagiography as told by the man himself. A copy will accompany every purchase of the E-Cat Shipping Container Hot Water/Steam/Cold Fusion Generator.

Hilarious! Kensington University again! The fact that it’s a diploma mill that was shut down by the law doesn’t seem to appear in this account you posted. Wonder why not?

In 1973, Rossi graduated in Philosophy of Science and Engineering at the University of Milan

When I do a Google search on that particular degree and Milan the only results are for Andrea Rossi. That makes me wonder if that degree is fake too.

Andrea Rossi's Petroldragon Story
by Andrea Rossi (Source: http://ingandrearossi.com/)
Translation by Alex Passi and Domenico Pozzetti

According to you, "Here is the story, as represented by Steven Krivit, who is in enmity with Rossi. So it is a good place to find the set of facts that both sides can agree on."

In fact, you have posted an article by Andrea Rossi about Andrea Rossi downplaying Andrea Rossi's criminal past. Am I being generous by assuming that you've gotten your wires crossed on two different threads?

The core of the story:
Until 1987 the raw materials used by Petroldragon for the production of fuel oil was considered secondary refuse matter, meaning waste from processing of raw materials, or other materials resulting from the recovery and recycling of waste. At that time, products derived from these materials were exempted from requiring any permission for waste disposal .

Without any warning and any explanation, suddenly all secondary materials similar to those obtained and used by Petroldragon were considered toxic waste. Consequently, all products derived therefrom were considered toxic waste as well. The activities of acquisition, storage, handling of such materials and products suddenly required government permits and government concessions. Since before that date, this never had been a requirement, Petroldragon obviously did not have permits or licenses for waste treatment .

Up to then, Petroldragon activities were always in conformance from a public authorities point of view. They were now suddenly considered illegal and unauthorized. By legislative decree, in a very short time, all equipment was sequestered. The government then determined that tanks used for storing incoming raw materials were illegal dumps of toxic waste .
The key questions to ask are:

1. Who in the government wanted to get paid off but didn't?
2. Who had a competing interest harmed by Rossi's process?
3. Who knew whom in the government that he was able to use to get Rossi's process out of the way by a redefinition of terms?

It reminds me of people who point to the effluent of water from certain power plants as "waste being introduced into the environment" without mentioning that the water going out was cleaner than it was coming into the plant.

What is this? A man crush?

You're term seagulls is pathetic. Anytime someone posts something you don't like you use that lame word, you sound like a ten year old and as I asked before, is it your term that you're trying to popularize? I've never read it anywhere else but on posts by you. I could be wrong but don't people call those kinds of posters drive bys?

If, as the article mentions about his water to fuel process, why doesn't he use his water to fuel magic process here in America? If what was written was true, then guess what, he already had a game changing winner, why switch gears and go to the Ecat when he supposedly had a valid process already for fuel?

This kind of behavior is what makes me think this is a scam. The inventors can't be satisfied with one invention, they always have several that can cure cancer, create free energy and balance my checkbook and save the world.

In 1979, Rossi was awarded a degree in Chemical Engineering from Kensington University, California (USA)

Go ahead, Google it.
