Perry as three times governor of the second most populous state in the Union has actually acted pro-life and not just talked pro-life.
bump
Our job is too evaluate all the candidates on our own. Taking someones word on FR is irresponsible or letting a candidates supporter turn you off to a candidate is also petty.
If you walk away still disappointed fine, but at least you'll know.
Regain footing?
Nonsense.
Rick Perry acts the FOOL when he goes after Mr. Cain.
If Mr. Perry wants a chance, then he must be a
CONSERVATIVE and go after the RINOs and political
cross dressers (Romney and other proObama RINOs).
It is not about CONVINCING the audience that Rick Perry
is a CONSERVATIVE (especially given obvious his open border
philosophy and PerryCARE in the past),
it is about Mr. Perry finally BEING CONSERVATIVE (if he is).
Kind of sad he didn’t extend parental consent and family values to his imposition of Gardasil.
He was really good, I watched the whole thing about 3 times yesterday on C-Span. He really connected with the people and they got a chance to see the real Rick Perry and they liked what they saw.
Poor old Herman, 28% to perry's 7% in Iowa and the Cain "simply doesn't know what it should be doing".
What ever Herman is doing his numbers are 400% better than rickys.
I watched the whole thing on C-Span and Herman was the first speaker and I thought he did well.
Opinions are shaded by viewpoints so those that agree/disagree will have the same/different opinions.
If you just rate the "winner" by the one that gave the best speech, no one can come close to the newt. Newt has the best knowledge of history and politics and can think on his feet and deliver a speech better than any politician in the Country.
Herman is honest to a fault, does step on his crank once in a while, but shoots straight and has excellent moral grounding.
I'll take Herman, the perrywinkles can have the 10 year governor of the great state of Texas.
He devoted most of his speech to the topic of segregation. There is no problem with that if he had he tied it in with an issue like abortion. Had he done that, it would have been a powerful moment. Instead, he made a bus analogy, saying that he remembers signs on that instructed African Americans to sit in the back of the bus, and now he owns a bus with his face plastered on it*****
This is one of the things that troubles me about Cain. It seems his idea of Christianity revolves more around the concept of some sort of social gospel. The church he attends certainly doesn’t sound as radical as 0zer0’s, but it does seem to focus on racial empowerment as a spiritual principle and Cain at times reflects that thinking in his statements and proposals.
At this point all the candidates have issues, but the only two I could see supporting are Perry and/or Santorum.
I'm seeing a pattern that the Cain supporters don't seem to want to acknowledge. Cain is not well organized and is constantly backtracking on earlier statements. It might be considered "refreshing" now, but do we really want a candidate who has to constantly explain what he has explained?
They did that with Santorum too. In fact I saw a couple of them sleeping. The guy who wrote this wasnt watching the same crowd I was.
>>including defunding Planned Parenthood, passing a parental consent law, and requiring women in Texas who are seeking abortions to have a sonogram,<<
That actually came off weak, weak, weak compared to Gingerich, and Cain. It appeared as if he was trying to sound tough but leave loop holes for getting votes from the pro abortion crowd.
>>Perry didnt shrink away for taking issue with Herman Cains recent flubbing on the issue of abortion.<<
A petty, poorly veiled jab in the wrong forum. Trust me, I grew up in Iowa and know the thought patterns. That didnt go over well after the rousing reception Cain got.
>>Perry was the clear winner on Saturday night because he accomplished everything he needed to do.<<
Not even close. Third at best. Gingerich hit a bases loaded home run, Cain was second favorite of the crowd without doubt. Perry was a strong third but well behind Gingerich and Cain.
A well written article. I felt like I was there, and the author provided good insight as to what each of the candidates did (or missed out on) up in Iowa.
That was a good list of campaign accomplishments Rick Perry capitalized on in Iowa this past weekend. It was great to hear the author report that Perry is finally showing himself to be the candidate that many were expecting when he entered the race. Newt had a great showing too which is also great. And the author is right, conservatives can always depend on Rick Santorum’s commitment to being a pro-life politician and a pro-life person. Apparently Santorum’s loss of a pre-mature infant child was very touching to those who heard his story. I’m glad to see Ron Paul participated as well, showing Iowans he cares about the issues that are important to Evangelical conservative voters.
I’m sorry to hear the press was more or less ignoring Michele Bachmann as she was speaking. I guess that is the way it goes in politics and journalism when the speaker (Representative Bachmann) has a campaign not making much news and when the journalists see a chance at possibly getting a bigger story from an already-big story from someone else in the room. It’s hard to be in politics, that’s for sure.
Thanks again for posting the article!
