Trick or treat? Connecticut State Rep. Tim Larson (D) wants to move Halloween from Oct. 31 to the last Saturday in October. Does Larson have an inordinate amount of election contributions coming in from Big Candy?
Let me start of by saying I think any state or federal legislators who spends time and effort to propose stupid legislation should be unceremoniously thrown out of what ever elected position they are in. Got that Larson? You should be shamed out of office for even bringing this up.
A colossal waste of time. Larsons statement it makes me sick to think this guy even took the time to release a statement reads in part
Halloween is fun night for the whole family, but not so much when you have to race home from work, get the kids ready for trick or treating, welcome the neighborhood children, and then try to get everyone to bed for an early school and work morning, Larson, a Democrat who represents East Hartford and South Windsor, said in a statement outlining his proposal.
You know what Tim? Rushing around bringing kids to and from school, football practice, hockey practice, soccer practice, gymnastics, swimming lessons, library events, play dates and everything else they have going on has been going on for years. Somehow the kids get fed. Somehow they make it to school. Parents figure it out on their own, without the states involvement thank you very much.
Lay your head down in shame and walk away from the microphone Rep. Larson. Families dont need the government to tell us when kids can go door-to-door in costume asking trick or treat?
I brought up Big Candy at the beginning of this post simply because Larsons legislation would certainly result in two Halloweens, with many families refusing to budge from the traditional date, and lots of kids demanding to go out on both days.
Follow the candy!
What a moron. Does he even know the history of Halloween and why it is the day it is?
Liberals always want to change tradition simply because it is a tradition. Halloween is not a recognized holiday in any sense of the word. If it isn’t on a Saturday.. so what? Do what every other working parent does... get home (put a bologna sandwich in your pocket) and take the kids out early. No one has ever stated that it has to be late at night. Sheesh... I wish people would just leave stuff alone.
My Nutmegger ancestors are spinning.
Sounds like Steve McGough the author is a candidate for that state reps office (Dawson) and he’s on the right track. He could shorten his his attack a bit and call the idea for what it is and associate it with other typical cynical socialist solutions. If that is the case and BG if you know McGough here are some strategies he could use.

I would guess most Americans don't know the history of Halloween and why it is the day that it is.
If they had left Daylight Saving Time alone, it would be dark by 4:30, the little kids could be done by 6 with little disruption to a normal schedule.
You're probably right, but at least the rest of us aren't dumb enough to try and change it.
