Occupy Wall Street moves to 'South Park'
Los Angeles Times ^ | 11/02/2011 | Tiffany Hsu

There’s a new fat cat in "South Park" tonight: Eric Cartman, with a nod to the Occupy Wall Street protests, will dub himself the newest denizen of the 1% club.

"South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the latest to opine on the movement with a new episode that has the roly-poly cartoon character flubbing his school’s fitness test. His failure dilutes the scores of the other elementary school students, resulting in more gym exercises for everyone.

Cue mass resentment from the 99% and first backlash and then melancholy for Cartman. Sound familiar?

You know it must be bad when liberals like Matt Parker & Trey Stone are even making fun of the OWS brain dead hippies!

And if you thought tonight's episode of South Park was good...then you need to Watch This!

Thought Parker and Stone were more libertarian (Ron Paul types, not socialists who pretend to be libertarian) than liberal.

I’ve seen countless South Park episodes that mock liberalism and political correctness.

Parker and Stone never quite identified as “liberals” so much as “libertarians who offend everyone equally.”

Parker and Stone are not liberals, or at least not standard liberals.

Yeah... if you think Matt Stone and Trey Parker are liberals, you haven’t been paying attention. And note that their names are “Matt Stone” and “Trey Parker”, not “Matt Parker” and “Trey Stone”.

I can take being made fun of as long as everyone gets their
turn in the barrel. It's a healthy process that keeps us all
from taking ourselves too seriously.

With the vicious way they attack and slander Christianity and our Lord and Savior...I have a hard time calling those two dweebs (whatever their names are) conservatives. It just goes to show you how far downhill the conservative movement has gone that South Park would be considered anything but liberal. It’s obviously a “progressive” show.

they have stuck a sharp stick in the eye of some liberals, with manbearpig, prius owners’ smugness, etc.

First off, I don't think that ANYBODY has ever claimed (seriesly) that Trey and Matt are conservatives; Certainly not them!

And while they can be brutal at mocking religions, their portrayal of Jesus is probably the most most sympathetic of any character in the show. Though probably not in a way most Christians would appreciate. But they do portray Jesus as one's who's been abandoned by nearly everyone.

Southpark kid-gloves Christianity compared to other religions. No sacred cows for these equal opportunity offenders...

Did anyone here catch the rerun of last weeks Broadway Play episode?

I thought my ears were playing tricks on me when it started,
but like a Moth to a flame I had to watch the whole thing.
The stuff those guys get away with is unreal.

I guess that’s why it’s Cable TV instead of Broadcast TV.

Parker and Stone aren’t liberals, as many others have noted here.

Stone once said: “I hate conservatives, but I really f***ing hate liberals.”

No one who has seen “Team America: World Police” can possibly think that Parker and Stone are propping up the liberal position in the world. They’ll rip on everyone and everything, but their most potent venom is reserved for pious liberals, especially in the news media and Hollywood. Go ahead, watch “Team America: World Police” all the way through and you’ll see what I mean. They rip Hollywood’s pious lefties without any mercy or quarter.

South Park’s most harsh treatment has probably been reserved for Mormonism and Scientology.

Pathetic script readers.

That was a shameless plug for their Broadway Smash "Book of Mormon". Playing now.

Have you ever seen their first film, "Cannibal the Musical"? You're sure to recognize, It's a Schpedoinkal Day.

You’ve never watched it, or if you have, you have watched it in order to be offended.

Jesus is actually the most sympathetic character on their show. He is ignored and maligned even though his way is best and everybody says they love him, but no one does what he says or gives him credit when they do.

Except Santa Claus when Jesus rescued him from his Iraqi captivity and Santa made the plea to the people of Southpark to remember Jesus at Christmas because he gave his life for them and that Jesus is the reason that Christmas is even around.

But you probably missed that, didn’t you?
