"Mate is a bush that is easy to grow, needs minimal processing and has a major caffeine kick."

I tried doing a search, but all I came up with for 'mate' was dating sites...

Can you tell more about it? :)

Maybe someone should start a movement for that. You know, like all those liberaltarians going to New Hampshire with the Free State Project..... you could launch the Survivor State Project or whatever you want to call it.

It is actually the Yerba Mate, a large shrub and relative of the holly from South America. The drink is made by steeping dried leaves and small branches in hot water (don’t use boiling water, as this gives it a bitter flavor) and tastes similar to some green teas.

Call it The Surviving Community Project

Designing a defensible layout could be a part of it, and looking for very very rural land to set it on too. If each member (must have diverse but useful skills/knowledge) ponied up a “deposit” to seek out the right land it could get off the ground.

Ive got 2 of my neighbors on the road to preparedness.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
At least YOU (shouldn’t) won’t have to worry about them, seeing as how you schooled them etc.

Best to get yourself in the ‘middle’ of several ‘prepared’ people, that way ‘they’ get to you last..

Somewhat like the two pals are hiking in the woods and a bear happens upon them. One guy kneels down and relaces his sneakers and his buddy says “Come on, lets go- you aren’t going to outrun that bear anyway”.
“Pal, it isn’t the bear I am trying to keep ahead of”.

I’m sold on the soap thing, already got 40 or 50 bars in stock.

Local store has the generic Claritin tabs on sale, ten tabs per box for 8.99, buy one, get one free. I got one and tomorrow will go back and get anther one or two. I personally have no allergies, but my wife swore by the Claritins, and they literally could become priceless if none were available out there.

Plus in general, it’s good to have some strong antihistamines around and in with my med supply stuff.

Yerba Mate.

It is the dried leaf of a holly tree. It takes a couple of years to grow but it can take temperatures of 8 degrees for a short period so it is easy to grow most places in the US.

I like it, some people don't, but it will kick the caffeine blues quick.
