"Mate is a bush that is easy to grow, needs minimal processing and has a major caffeine kick."


I tried doing a search, but all I came up with for 'mate' was dating sites...

Can you tell more about it? :)

I think it’s pronounced “mah-TAY”...it’s big in South America.

It is actually the Yerba Mate, a large shrub and relative of the holly from South America. The drink is made by steeping dried leaves and small branches in hot water (don’t use boiling water, as this gives it a bitter flavor) and tastes similar to some green teas.

Yerba Mate.

It is the dried leaf of a holly tree. It takes a couple of years to grow but it can take temperatures of 8 degrees for a short period so it is easy to grow most places in the US.

I like it, some people don't, but it will kick the caffeine blues quick.
