It’s happening: Democratic lawmakers say Fast and Furious proof of need for harsher gun laws
Hot Air ^ | November 5, 2011 | Tina Korbe

Right on cue, Democratic lawmakers have begun to say the DOJ’s lethal and irresponsible Fast and Furious program underscores the need for stricter gun control laws:

“This hunt for blame doesn’t really speak about the problem,” said Sen. Dianne Feinstein at a recent Senate Judiciary hearing while discussing Fast and Furious.

“And the problem is, anybody can walk in and buy anything, .50-caliber weapons, sniper weapons, buy them in large amounts, and send them down to Mexico. So, the question really becomes, what do we do about this?”

The ranking Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) have introduced a dedicated firearms trafficking statute, but it has stalled in the House Judiciary Committee.

Republicans rightly have pushed back against this narrative. Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) put it best when he said simply, “I get it, I’d want to change the subject too if I were them. I’m happy to have a conversation about broader gun laws, but we’re going to do it after Fast and Furious.”

What’s most troubling about Democrats’ predictable call for tightening of regulations is that it does nothing to dispel the theory that Fast and Furious was orchestrated precisely to “prove” the need to clamp down on gun sellers and purchasers. Rather, it lends credence to the idea.

Anybody with a badge, that is.

The rats ‘under the radar’ plan was discovered so now they’ll just do it right out in the open and dare anyone to try and stop them.

Pretty much.

These ruling class oligarchs live in a protected bubble, and don't see (or don't acknowledge) that the country is on a rebellion footing. They've completely ignored the lessons of the 2010 midterm elections, and believe that they can still move the Socialist ball down field, despite the clear will of the people.

We must fire them all.

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly. . . it absolutely should be against the law for the Federal government to traffic in guns while conspiring to take away the constitutional rights of its citizens to bear arms.

They are frantic and desperate.

As I postulated in during the presidential campaign 2007, the EU has spent itself into the ground and cannot be prevented from breaking up. This was clear to them by the end of 2006.

Everything they have done since then in North America and the Mideast, however risky or likely to fail has been done with an eye towards achieving what they can before the spectacular failure of socialism in Europe causes a backlash against socialism in general world wide.

That was my assessment then and I stand by it now. They frantically Hope to stay in power after the financial collapse of Europe by making their power sphere worldwide before then.

I am betting against their being able to pull it off.

I'm pretty sure it's already against the law for the government to do what they did. It's why Darrel Issa is all over this, and Holder's somewhere sweating bullets (no pun intended).

I like your assessment, Edd. I also think it's prescient. We've all been watching the teetering edifice of global Socialism become weaker and weaker since Obama's election, and with the rise of the American Tea Party, I think we'll see it finally kicked over into the dust of history.

As you said, they're frantically trying to beat the clock to the final countdown, when they're finally thrown out of power next year. It's why Pelosi, Reid, and Obama (and their minions) have been in a mad dash to re-write the rules of Western civilization as fast as they can. They're desperate to forestall the inevitable and historic sea change that's coming.

I think history will show that taking the House back from the Democrats in 2010 was the moment when the American republic was saved from certain extinction.

They are racing to get their agenda fully implemented if possible before the country's political pendulum swings back too far to the right. The Constitution and Bill Of Rights are quaint abstract concepts to them.

Can you imagine the damage they would have done by now, if the Republicans hadn't taken the House back last year? I shudder to think what sort of totalitarian laws would have been foisted upon the American people, if we hadn't "headed them off at the pass."

As it is, there's years worth of hard work ahead, just undoing all the things they've done. And we'd better pull this crap out by the roots this time, or it'll grow back so strong, we'll never get rid of it.

Thread BUMP! Great posts! Inside the twisted, treasonous mind of some current lawmakers at this time and place in our republic’s history. Where are the rest of the “crickets chirping” representatives?

So far, there are 34 Congress critters calling for Holder's resignation. There will probably be more in the coming week. This scandal is not going away, and has the power to bring down Obama and the whole Democrat party.

Expect Holder to take his place under Obama's bus very soon.

Okay Democrats. Since most outrageous shootings in this country involve the Bros or Hispanics, disarm them first and then come talk to me.

E Pluribus Unum, homie. This ain't about race. It's about our God-given right to keep and bear arms. ALL of us.

Everyone, contact your elected officials and DEMAND repeals of gun control laws as punitive punishment for the criminal acts committed by our Government in Fast and Furious.

Specifically, demand that the Sporting Purpose clause of the 1968 GCA be repealed, demand that the NFA be repealed, demand that the Hughes Amendment be repealed, and demand that the multiple handgun reporting requirement be repealed.

The Government must surrender some power regarding firearms over F&F. There must be no compromise on this!!!

The lies from the left are never ending. And, as long as the right allows them to control the language of the debate, it will continue.

The only gun control needed in the US is:

1. proper sight alignment
2. control the breathing
3. squeeze the trigger smoothly

The Democrat Crime Syndicate should have been brought down years ago...but I'll take this one, this time. These totalitarians are getting desparate.
