Chevy Corvair reincarnated as the Chevy Volt.

"why did the NHTSA delay reporting the spontaneously combusting Volt?" Cause the guy who owns NHTSA also owns GM, the company that makes the Volt? Just a guess.
Yet another item to file under "Can You Imagine the Reaction If This Had Happened Under a Republican President."

"why did the NHTSA delay reporting the spontaneously combusting Volt?" They thought Joe Paterno had done so already?

Yep, and even if not technically owned by same guy he’s got a world of influence over Government Motors and NHTSA.
Obama has got to be tubed next year!

“Use copious amounts of water if fire is present or suspected.” Damn straight thinking there. You need to cut that whiskey while you’re roasting marshmallows over your neighbor’s crashed Volt.

GM commandeered the investigation from local officials. What branch of government is GM?

Mark Modica is a LIAR
He's been against the Volt and keep posting story after story about the Volt. He tells lies and half-truths. The first fire that happened and was reported in the news media was determined to be caused by faulty wiring in the garage of the Volt owner. The same thing happened to a guy down the street from me because of a clothes dryer that was stuck on for a very long time. The electrical wiring overheated and caused the fire. This is exactly why the first fire occurred. Anyone familiar with house wiring should understand this. This happens all the time and there was nothing wrong with the Volt.
The second fire happened 3 WEEKS after a test crash. Unbelievable that the news media would slant the news this way. It's almost as if those who criticize the Volt think gasoline cannot be ignited after a crash in a conventional ICE vehicle. This Mark Modica is a fool and buffoon and he has it in for GM. It seems to be the only reason for his existence. It's killing him that the Volt is gonna be a major success.

It’s customary to ping a FReeper, especially when you call him a liar.
Please link an article that specifically names a cause of the first fire. The Fire Marshall never came up with a cause that I’ve read and they turned the investigation over to GM and the owners’ insurance company. I’ve never seen a fire department that turned a fire investigation over to a company whose product may have caused the fire.
Mark Modica, if you actually read his articles has never claimed the Volt caused that fire so you have an apology to make.

Chevy Corvair reincarnated as the Chevy Volt. Sort of the opposite, really. The Corvair was a sound design (though unfamiliar to American drivers; the rear-engine, swing-axle design was used by European carmakers) that was decried as "unsafe". The Volt is evidently an unsafe design, but nobody will bring any serious criticism.
The Corvair was also a decently successful model in terms of sales, racking up 1.8 million+ units sold. There are still more Corvairs on the road than there are Volts, and it's likely to remain that way for quite some time.

I agree.
Modica is clearly an enemy of the people and should be forced to undergo re-education in Siberia.

Chevy Corvair reincarnated as the Chevy Volt.Corvairs have a "cool" factor that Volts will never have. Plus, they run only on gasoline.
To: jazusamo
“No specific source in the CT incident has been blamed for the fire and speculation pointed to a homemade plug-in vehicle that had been in use for years (without a problem) in the garage before the arrival of the Volt. In fairness, no conclusive evidence has been found in either incident as to what caused the fires.”
“Look, the assertion that the Chevy Volt should not be assumed to be a fire hazard before investigations are complete is logical. But it is also logical to want transparent reporting on the Chevy Volt, particularly involving safety concerns. It is reasonable to expect the NHSTA and GM to immediately notify the public of safety protocol that can save lives, even if Chevy Volts ultimately are cleared of being at fault for the initial cause of any fires they were involved in.”
Typical left wing attack that tries to discredit messenger. The government intrusion in GM was wrong and continues to be proven so. If Obama doesn’t want to be involved, why doesn’t Treasury sell NOW? Get out of Ally Financial as well.
To: Mark Modica; truthguy
Typical left wing attack that tries to discredit messenger.Exactly correct. I specifically asked truthguy to back up his assertions and he has failed to do so. It's not because he logged off before my post because he posted on another thread after my post to him.
It's evident he hasn't read this article because he has an agenda and he not only supports the Chevy Volt but GM as a whole, even though they've used most every trick in the book to deceive people.

It's called Crow. Did you think that I had forgot? And when I have a little more time I'll give you even more info on Mr. Modica.
It's official now!
Volt didn't cause fire
I wanted to wait until I had this info before I replied.
