Hoyer Slams Perry’s Proposal for Part-Time Congress

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D., Md.), the second-ranking Democrat in the House, reacted angrily Tuesday to the suggestion by Texas Gov. Rick Perry that Congress become a part-time institution.

“Is this a serious proposal he’s making for a country that has very high unemployment, who’s budget deficit is larger than it’s ever been in history, which has two wars that we’re confronting and trying to bring to a conclusion?” Mr. Hoyer said of the Republican presidential hopeful.

“If this is what he thinks is pandering to the Tea Party, it is not in my opinion speaking to the issues that the American public feels are very, very critical to them, jobs being the number one issue,” Mr. Hoyer said. “So I don’t think it’s a very serious effort on his part.”

In a speech Tuesday in Bettendorf, Iowa, Mr. Perry outlined his plan to overhaul the federal government.

If Steny Hoyer is against it, I am most likely for it.

Mr. Hoyer is a putz.

He enjoys taxing Americans full-time.

Sounds to me like the job Hoyer is really concerned about is his!

Works here in Tx. Our Congress only meets every other year. The budget is a two year budget so it covers the off year. If something catastrophic occurs, there are provisions for calling an empergency session.

Notice we also have fewer business killing regulations. Coincidence? I think not.

Sounds to me like he's making a point for Perry's proposal--LOL!

That’s the problem Hoyer, and most every Democrat has with Perry’s proposal, which is a profound threat to their prospects of amassing huge fortunes.

And why is that Steny? DEMOCRATS RAN THE ENTIRE CONGRESSIONAL SHOW from 2007 - 2010. If Democrats wanted low unemployment, they could have reformed Washington to allow for that. If Democrats wanted a LOWER BUDGET DEFICIT, they could have stopped spending. Fact is they do not want these things. They firmly believe that a centralized Fed Gov is the answer to every problem DESPITE THE EVIDENCE! And worse yet, they refuse to budge despite the evidence.

Funny that during those four years, our economy actually BECAME what they accused our economy of being from 2001 - 2006. Remember the WORST ECONOMY SINCE HOOVER calls from the left?

Hoyer is the poster boy for term limits. He is real-life caricature of the pigs in Animal Farm. It is now time to butcher him for his meat. Steny sucks!

I think he was fine the first two terms—then he got into the kooky stuff like the Garadisil vaccine and the trans-TX corridor.

IMO, having all that power and adulation goes to their heads after a while.

He isn’t the worst governor we have ever had—remember Ma Richards!

Still, I think 2 terms is enough.

And what have the Democrats done to address the 'jobs issue', Mr. Hoyer? Raised taxes, repealed DADT, passed Obamacare, and a dozen or so other things which, in the aggregate, do absolutely nothing to address the issue. If Gov. Perry isn't serious, what does that make you? Bozo the clown?
