Newt Gingrich Supports the Dream Act?

One of the biggest topics of discussions coming out of the CNN/Heritage debate is the few minutes through which Newt Gingrich clarified his stance on those here illegally for longer than those who recently broke the law. The discussion was one of the lengthier topics and pitted Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich at strong odds on the issue.

The portion of the discussion Gingrich is taking heat for is the point when he openly advocates for amnesty for those in the country illegally for 25 years or longer. He then makes a statement claiming those who came here legally are “law abiding” residents, which is impossible considering those here illegally broke the law to get here.

Surely you jest! Why, his WORDS are conservative, even if his entire political career is the republican equivalent of FDR.

I say, let the law-abiding Mexicans stay, if they have a job and IF THEY GIVE UP ALL RIGHTS TO EVER BECOME U.S. CITIZENS AND GIVE UP ALL RIGHTS TO VOTE.

Also, heavy tax on any money going back to Mexico.

No free healthcare either. The employers who hire them must pay for their healthcare insurance and education.

That should take care of the illegal aliens for good.

Not sure I like Gingrich’s answer, but anyone who believes we are going to run a dragnet and toss people who have lived here for 25 years out of the country are dreaming.

No matter who’s rhetoric we listen to, the fact is those that are here will probably be staying.

The one thing that has to be done is to close the border, close it to drugs and close it to illegal immigrants, and close it to Mexican truckers,and I doubt we will see that, no matter who is elected.

You can listen to the others talking through their ass about what they will do, but history proves it aint gonna happen.

Think carefully about what Newt said. He said,

“Is it inhumane to deport an illegal immigrant who came to the United States 25 years ago,”

Why did he choose 25 years ago and not 20 or 30.

People assume that 25 years was just a number that Newt pulled out of his ass.

It is not.

Think back about about what happened 25 years ago.

That would be 1986.

That was the year Ronald Reagan’s bill gave amnesty to the then current residents in exchange for sealing the border.

The border wasn’t sealed and millions more Mexicans and other poured over the border.

The people who came after 1986 were illegal. But the people who came before 1986 were legalized if they bothered to come forward.

So Newt is talking about a law that is already on the books.

So far this week, I've been called a purist, hater, Obama supporter, bad Catholic, and liberal troll for objecting to Newt's record & policies, and saying I won't support him in the primary. Newt has definitely become the new Perry on FR. In honor of that, I'd to present any Newticles lurking on this thread with a recycled list of talking points they can use to promote their guy on FR. For your viewing pleasure (feel free to borrow any of these, pro-Newt freepers!):

TOP 10 PERRYBOY TACTICS THAT NEWT SUPPORTERS CAN USE ON FR

10) Find some friendly quote Sarah Palin made YEARS AGO about Newt, like whole heartily endorsing the Contact With America in 1994, and quote it out of context to imply she's endorsing him for President in 2012. If anyone balks, say "Sarah Palin's for Newt... that ain't GOOD enough for ya?!"

9) Claim any FReeper who opposes Newt is 'bigoted' against Georgians (or "Virginians", where ever Newt claims to be "from" now), Catholics, white males, southerners, chubby guys, people with Ph.D's, etc. Also inform them that are racist against Mexicans and "anti-immigration extremists who hate little brown people" if they question ANY part of Newt's immigration plan.

8) Point out how "electable" Newt is nationally by continually gloating about him winning repeatedly in a super safe-Republican district against token opposition.

7) State that any FReeper who objected to Newt sitting on the couch with Nancy and endorsing global warming "hates a clean environment and wants polluters to destroy the planet" (worked great for Perrybots when they claimed Gardasail critics "hate Texas females and want them to die of cancer")

6) Repeat over and over again "You NON-Georgians (or whatever state Newt claims to be "from" now) just don't get it. Dede Scozzafava was a CONSERVATIVE New Yorker back when Newt endorsed her. In fact, she was the MOST conservative candidate running in that election." Ignore all evidence posted that shows otherwise.

5) Start referring to anyone who opposes Newt in the primary as an "Obama supporter" and reply "Do you WANT Obama to be re-elected? Newt is the only ELECTABLE conservative in the race!" (I think some Newticals have already resorted to this tactic)

4) Smear Ronald Reagan as a RINO, Herman Cain as a closet Democrat, Michele Bachmann as a psycho phony Christian (while simultaneously playing up Newt's "Christian" virtues). Then claim "I see you Newt haters continue to violate Reagan's 11th commandment. Funny, I haven't seen any Newt supporters say bad things about the other candidates"

3) Any time someone quote's Newt's OWN words, verbatim, call it an "anti-Newt smear" (the Perrybots borrowed this tactic from Trump supporters, it can easily be recycled again for Newt)

2) Reply to posts critical of Newt by saying "Oh yeah, and just who are YOU for??? You can't win with nobody. Name ONE candidate who's better than Newt!". Proceed to ignore any replies that explain to you which candidates are better and why.

1) Call anyone "hater" if they discuss any drawbacks or negatives about Newt's record.
