Prayers for glasses ( Vanity )
se | 12-2-11 | simplesimon

I know the power of prayer so I humbly ask my fellow FReepers to pray that we find my son's glasses.

You see, my 5 year old is legally blind in his left eye with his glasses.

He has a whole slew of eye issues and late september had his 3rd eye surgery.

We haven't been able to find his glasses in about a week and I'm getting pretty frantic.

We're also awaiting word for winter lay-off's any day now. I almost expect hubby to come home with his lay off slip today. UGH.

Our insurance only pays for one pair a year and he just got these in July and well, ya know, ..........so I thought I'll humbly ask for prayers in finding his glasses.

Thank you ~

Maybe you could pay for them with your job.

Praise God from whom all good things come. Thanks be to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

I put in a request to the Patron Saint of Lost Causes (St. Jude), too.

Congratulations on finding them. When my mom missplaces things, she’ll look, but after awhile just sits in her chair and tries to be quite and prays. And more times than not will recall where she put it.

I recall my old man (RIP) would be looking for something (usually his keys or wallet) and if I was around he would look in the freezer or dishwasher or some weird place.

“I figured I better look in here - as that is the LAST place I would ever look. And you know - whenever I find what I’ve lost it’s ALWAYS in the last place I looked.” ;)

Well, I went and was klutzy and knocked something off of the end table and got down on my hands and knee’s to pick it back up.
I caught a small glare and did a triple take. WTH is that ? I wondered....thus the triple take.

In the “shadow” section between the couch and the end table is where they were. The ear pieces were laying perfectly on the lamp cord, folded and blending right in with the cord.

If there hadn’t been that little bit of glare from his lenses, I may not have found them for quite awhile.

I’m still yippin’ and yahooin’ and luckily I havent woken anyone up LOL

And more good news....... no winter lay off slip so far..... still prayin about that ~

Tell us where you found them!

Can you try training him to always put them in, say two or three designated places around the house when he takes them off? I know he is a little kid, but maybe use a reward system or something,

Perhaps set some special dishes around the house and train him to only put them in the dish -- then give him rewards for doing it each day.

Worth a try. Kids want to please and do things right.

There's the grace of God right there.

Oh, and you can always pray to St. Anthony when you lose stuff. He comes through every time. I have found things in the oddest places -- just like you described -- after having a chat with St. Anthony (I call him Tony.) I once found a contact lens on a football field at dusk. Two hours after we finished playing.

Congrats on your good fortune -- and may you continue to escape the pink slip!

I’m assuming that is a smarty pants reply, meant to belittle . However, I’ll answer .

I do not have a job. I quit my job right after he had his first eye surgery at 6 months old. And was running him back and forth 2 to 4 times a WEEK to childrens hospital. ( fwiw, he just had his third surgery at the end of September ).

Having a kid with mulitple vision problems and all the trips we had to make (and still make , although not as often now, thank GOD) ~ does not make time for a job.

He was ( is ) a *** lot *** more important to get his vision issues worked out and diagnosed than bringing home a few bucks ( after paying a baby sitter and gasoline for getting to and from work ).

So until he starts school next year, I am content being a stay at home Mom, even though with one income it’s a little rough or a lot rough in the winter time. I’d be even happier if I had that darn winning powerball lotto ticket in my hand LOL

Oh wow on finding the contact ~!

My little guy wore a contact in his left eye from 7 months til 2 years old.

We opted for that , instead of the lens implant at the time.
Then at 3 we had his 2nd surgery to scrape out all of the scar tissue from the 1st surgery ( cataract removal ) and then opted to have the IOL implant and then glasses instead of a contact.

I freakin HATED the sil-soft contacts. What a horrendous pain in the neck. But at 1 he got the gas permeable rigid contact and those were a lot easier.

Ever tried putting a contact in a 7 month old ? ugh.

Thanks FRiend ~

He has a couple of different spots that they **usually** are in.

When we go to our living history events, after losing them in a MUD PUDDLE ( he loves mud and water I tell ya lol ), to be found a few days later, we’ve just been taking them off of him for the whole weekend. Then they stay in my purse hidden under a wool blanket or deer hide !

7 out of 10 times they’re on the night stand as I often take them off of him after he’s fallen asleep.

I’m just so dern happy that they were found. WOO HOO

Yea! So glad you found the glasses!

I am sure replacing them would have been costly and a pain in the neck.

Prayers for your job too! Tough times these days. Better years ahead for our country,I hope and pray.
