Even at this 11th hour –when all of our liberties and freedom are about to go down the drain –many people still don’t understand that the indefinite detention bill passed by Congress allows indefinite detention of Americans on American soil.
...Another sponsor of the bill –Senator Levin –has also repeatedly said that the bill applies to American citizens on American soil, citing the Supreme Court case of Hamdi which ruled that American citizens can be treated as enemy combatants:
“The Supreme Court has recently ruled there is no bar to the United States holding one of its own citizens as an enemy combatant,” said Levin. “This is the Supreme Court speaking.“
Levin again stressed recently that the bill applies to American citizens, and said that it was president Obama who requested that it do so:..

U.S. Congressman Justin Amash states in a letter to Congress:
The Senate’s [bill] does not even distinguish between American citizens and non-citizens, or between persons caught domestically and abroad. The President’s power, in his discretion, to detain persons he determines have supported associated forces applies just as strongly to Americans seized on U.S. soil as it does to foreigners captured on a far away battlefield.

Senator Levin: It was Obama who required Indefinite Detainment Bill INCLUDE U.S. Citizens
This bill if passed into law will be far more dangerous to American Citizens than the enemy combatants. I would not trust this kind of power in hands of good men, much less Obama.
So basically what you are saying is that we are all now living under martial law. All this time we were worried about Obama pulling the trigger....instead we now have the entire Congress doing the dirty work!!! Were Sc*&^ewd.

The House is expected to vote Wednesday on the $662 billion measure that authorizes funds for military personnel, weapons, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and national security programs in the Energy Department. A Senate vote is possible on Thursday.
At best we would get one of the very vague (and again 100% political) 5-4 decisions.
Maybe someday before I become worm chow we will have a Supreme Court with people who know and FULLY understand the Constitution (not a huge document like the health care bill) and the owner's manual (essentially the Federalist Papers) which explains how and why the Constitution says what it says.
We have all been betrayed by both sides of the aisle and we no longer have honorable judges watching our back. They are simply as political as our media.

Rand Paul tried to attach an ammendment to the bill excluding US citizens but he got shot down. We all need to contact our so called conservative senators and congressmen/women to find out if they voted for this unconstitutional POS. Five will get you Ten most of them did.
It would be one thing if the military was clamoring for the authority to become the nation’s jailer. But to the contrary: Defense Secretary Leon Panetta opposes the maneuver. So does CIA Director David Petraeus, who usually commands deference from senators in both parties.

Well it passed the House overwhelmingly today so we are all Al Queda now. We all need to contact our “conservative” congressmen/women and thank them for selling us down the river one more time.
