Shameless Redistribution Populist Giveaway for Soc Sec - AND REPUBS LOOK BAD ANYWAY [Vanity]
Vanity | 12/21/2011 | Self

Democrats like to slush government money around to the poor and exempt them from taxes as a way to buy votes.

Republicans could offer to print money and distribute it on the streets in inner cities, and Democrats would still make them look bad for doing it !

How many ways can we name that this "payroll tax holiday" is going to blow up in Republican's faces ?

First, let's remember that they're weaselly little scardy-cats for even bringing such an idiotic thing to the floor. Let the Democrats bring it to the floor and then vote no on it. Be a man and stand up and vote no.

1.) This is not Federal Income Tax.

a) We're talking about Social Security contributions - remember how it's getting around the point where current contributions can't pay for current payments to people receiving benefits ? How is it smart to cut off the contributions from payroll withholdings that fund it ?

b) So we're not talking about a "tax break", we're talking about stiffing the Social Security trust fund.

2.) Conservatives (in theory) do not like income redistribution.

a) This tax rate = 6.2% of gross up to a max of every paycheck, now matter how little one makes. So it's very anti-redistribution. EVERYBODY pays this tax if they have a paycheck. No free-ride, getting social security benefits but not paying in.

b) Income Tax, on the other hand, people that have very little income DO NOT PAY; what little is withheld can all come back when they file. Should not everyone pay tax to contribute to the costs of government ? Why exactly should some citizens who earn income not pay income tax ? Every citizen who has income should pay income tax.

3.) Democrats will always rub everything that Republicans do or don't do in their face. Everything. Every time. Because Democrat's arguments do not have to make sense. This is because they encourage self-centeredness and irrationality in their voting base, mindless voters who simply vote Democratic so they can get more for themselves. Democrat politicians can say things about Republicans that are blatant lies and it will serve to convince anyone who's not checking out their facts.

a) Democrats will blame the failure to act on Republicans, as well as the fact that it was only for 2 months or only for 12 months.

b) The increased shortfall in the Social Security system that the funding contribution holiday produces will be blamed on Republicans.

c) General Fund money will be used to cover the shortfall. About 45% of this is borrowed money. This will be used by Democrats to blame Republicans for higher expenses in the General Fund.

d) Democrats will demand cuts in the military budget to pay for the shortfall. And blame Republicans for wanting to pay too much to the "military-industrial complex".

e) Democrats will advocate making the 6.2% "progressive" instead; they will want employees who earn more to pay a higher rate. They will blame Republicans for having a "regressive" tax like Social Security. The top 1% should pay for 50 years of retirement for every one of the 99%, right ?

4.) Leaving the question open so long without passing it: Democrats will blame the "uncertainty" that it causes for businesses on Republicans. They will say the Republicans are harming the economy because of this.

5.) It will be found to have almost no beneficial effect whatsoever on the economy after a year or two - and the Democrats will make the Republicans own the whole idea - and take the full blame.

TOPICS: Government; Politics
KEYWORDS:
When can we get some Republican Congressional leadership that has more than 2 functioning brain cells and at least the spine of a worm ?

When the idea is floated to reduce the Social Security contribution rate just shrug your shoulders, ignore them, scream at them, whatever. Say whatever. Tell them to get lost.

Why did Republicans not accuse whoever first floated this idea, even if it was GW Bush, in wild angry interviews on the news, of wanting to cut off funding for Social Security benefits ? Was that so hard to figure out and do ?

As long as Social Security benefits are paid, the money's gotta come from somewhere.

Government is not responsible enough by it's nature to run a retirement program. It's not truly "protecting" anyone or "providing" for anyone's retirement.

most morons don’t realize this will lead to a reduction in benefits when they retire .......

benefits are calculated based on total FICA paid in....

“We’re talking about Social Security contributions - remember how it’s getting around the point where current contributions can’t pay for current payments to people receiving benefits ? How is it smart to cut off the contributions from payroll withholdings that fund it ?”

THIS is NOT getting sufficient attention. It needs to go VIRAL!!!!

Yeh, I can’t wait to see how they handle this in benefit calculation 10, 20 years from now.

You know how it is now... You don’t have YOUR OWN COPY OF W-2’s for the past 35 years ? Ma gov’t says you earned $2,000 that year... prove otherwise.

Does ANYONE in DC know what they are doing???

While all these arguments about suspending SS contributions (HAH!) are raging, the SSA has INCREASED my SS retirement benefits while at the same time DECREASING my Medicare (Pt. B) premiums!

It can only go viral with people 60+ years old.

Everyone else has a cr@ppy attitude about it, throwing up their hands.

When they start wondering about SS it’s too late...

Also keep in mind that a cut in Social Security payroll tax will not show up on Obama’s deficit as it is a separate account, hence the reason the Democrats are for it.

Republicans should be SCREAMING to the public that Democrats are DEFUNDING Social Security and throwing granny and grandpa off the cliff!

To: SumProVita; All

Make sure to suggest that they make...

A CAMPAIGN VIDEO...

showing Democrats grabbing some old guy’s money out of his pockets.

Maybe at a government office window... and the bureaucrat handing cash to the old lady grabs a little for himself with a grimacing smile before he hands the rest to her.

I think the author and all the critics are on to something.. it's just that the Obama's state compliant undistinguished media (Obama's SCUM) are not talking about it now. They used to.

Stop borrowing from Social Security says this old USA Today article.

Ok, we'll borrow the SS money directly from the workers! says Obama's Rat Party (formerly the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party). We won't say anything about it says Obama's SCUM.

I think it was Democrat LBJ who started raiding the SS funds for his "Great" Society that cost citizens trillions of dollars and filled the SS funds with IOUs.
