Scientists say Turin Shroud is supernatural (misleading title)

Italian government scientists have claimed to have discovered evidence that a supernatural event formed the image on the Turin Shroud, believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ.

After years of work trying to replicate the colouring on the shroud, a similar image has been created by the scientists.

However, they only managed the effect by scorching equivalent linen material with high-intensity ultra violet lasers, undermining the arguments of other research, they say, which claims the Turin Shroud is a medieval hoax.

BUT also the Italians almost all of them think humans have caused global warming as well..
When one volcano emits more CO2 than all the humans for 20 years.. maybe 100 years..

But they do make some good automobiles.. that emit nasty stuff..
They used to make good shoes.. and have some pretty chicks when they are young..

I would imagine it would certainly qualify as "supernatural" if it turns out that this sort of thing was supposedly produced using ultroviolet lasers in the Middle Ages -- or some time far earlier than that.

I am familiar with the Shroud of Turin but admittedly don't know enough about all the science behind it to render a fully informed opinion on it . . . but I've long felt that if it is, in fact, the burial shroud of Jesus Christ, then we'll probably learn that the image was produced through some kind of remarkable process that isn't readily explained with all the limitations of the physical world.

My take is the Shroud is a fake—BUT not for the same reason as most skeptics. If it was really what it is thought to be, it should be charged with the supernatural power of the Christ. It should be able to cure the sick! Cause miracles to happen, feed the hungry! Change lives! Cause the blind to see! The shroud has no history of miracles — No wonderful supernatural gifts. Compare it to the Tilma in Mexico—Its 400+ years old and has a litany of miracles and wonders. The serape of Juan Diego has so many more miracles than the shroud. The Shroud—if its real should have been fireproof! Just as Communists tried to destroy the Tilma with acid—and failed to harm it—so too the Shroud should be charged with Christ-power! It should glow in the dark.

That's what the article is saying. “We can't duplicate the shroud without lasers.” Which didn't exist before the 50’s. The 1950's.

I disagree, the shroud could not have been been a fake how could the forger know about positive and negative that would make the face of Christ a positive image!

THe Shroud of Turin is one of the coolest things in the world. It is right up there with extraterrestrial life, NASCAR and the Swedish Bikini team. It always fascinates.

I disagree, I think it does not fascinate you.

It compels me to read EVERY article about whenever I come across one. Nothing else is so fascinating.

scorching....

Remember, the shroud survived a fire but it WAS damaged and surely it absorbed all kinds of "stuff".

I didn’t read the article (disciple from the School of Laz) but I read the other day that we can’t simply duplicate the image with UVL. We have enough power with modern technology to duplicate a similar image on about a square inch of material. It would take an UVL with about 30X more power than we can match with our modern technology to render an image the size of the shroud.

Ultraviolet was not a widely known color choice during the Medieval period.

I have a few books on The Shroud. Here is a link to one released in 2010. It is very well written and under $7.00 I highly recommend it.

The thing I read years ago that baffled scientists was that the image was burned from the inside out.
