Allen West: It’s about time we change the leadership in DC
The Right Scoop ^ | 12-22-11 | Editors

A lot of this interview is par for the course, where West defends the leadership in this current crisis and also explains what he doesn’t like about this deal.

But when Greta starts complaining that the House waited until the last minute to get this done, just to create another extension because they always disagree, West said this:

Well I tell ya Greta, give me the opportunity to be in leadership in Washington DC and I think you’d see something different. Because coming out of the military, we didn’t go home until the mission was complete. So maybe that’s what the American people need to understand. It’s about time we take a chance with some of the young leaders that we have sent to Washington DC and move away from this establishment rhetoric and this game that they play in Washington DC.

Exactly. Put West in as Speaker and we’ll see real leadership. That would be an awesome day.

Here’s the full interview:

Whoever it is Boehner needs to go. I would like to see Michelle Bachmann replace Tammy Faye and Jim DeMint replace Mitchie the Kid McConnell in the Senate.

Think I’d rather have West or Steve King replace Boehner - but MB will do - and DeMint replacing McConnell is right on the money.

IMHO...

A) Real leadership in Congress would be to let the tax holiday expire so the employee contribution to Social Security is collected as it is supposed to be. The employer portion is being paid, the employee portion should be as well.

I guess in an election year we cut taxes on the poor huddled masses and make a big show of it, then put the screws to them in a dozen ways that they don’t even realize.

The same weaselly Republicans will look like idiots a short ways down the road when the media starts squeeling about Social Security not having enough funding. The Republicans will be BLAMED for that and stand there crying “but we gave the tax break to the poor like the Democrats do, why do you hate us??” [crying and sobbing sounds].

B) And, then, separately, to allow the private sector to build the pipeline if the private sector thinks it’s a good deal, they don’t ask for any government money to do it and if they do it right.

I loathe the Cretin-in-Chief.

I pity Boehner, whose mind is so weak that he can be outdone by the Cretin, the witch, and the Nevada Man-Thing.

Perhaps the repulsican party should just die and get it over with.

We’ll take care of things with CW-II and hopefully recover.

I don’t want to drag this thread off topic — but does anyone know who publishes Right Scoop? On the one hand, it looks like a pretty reliable conservative source. But, then, on the other hand I see a link to CBS Live at the top of the page. Seems odd.

This whole thing is nothing more than a vote buying scheme for the masses that don’t have a clue.

We need Col Alan West in the 2012 administration. He’s one of the few with the guts to tell it like it is:

Steve King would be an awesome choice. I always fancied Mike Pense to be a future Speaker, but he is heading to the IN governor mansion. King would be great. He’d have to leap frog a bunch of people, so unfortunately even if we lost Boehnner, we’d end up with Cantor or McCarthy first.

Cantor would be no better than Boehner - not sure about McCarthy. King is everything positive about Michelle Bachmann without the negatives IMO.

The current "leadership" are simply placeholders, not leaders. March into the jaws of Hell for Mitch McConnell? "Once more into the breach, dear friends" for John Boehner? Not when they are willing to sign away America bit by bit in order to make it "home" for the holidays or play golf with the enemy.

Allen West at least knows something about real leadership in the real world... if nothing else, a West/DeMint team would not be stepping on their own teams' wazoos every time the MSM called them mean.

Agreed. Not thrilled with those choices, just looking at the established pecking order in the leadership. The GOP never seems to go with the best choice, just the ‘next in line’.

There are things I like about Cantor, but I agree, he would not be a bold leader. He has some good moments.

I truly wish that West had, or would, recruit many of his respected peers in the military to run for public office. He probably has a long list of those he thinks would make excellent congressmen, and it would be invaluable to America to have such people running our government.

All it would take would be for him to start sending emails and letters, to find out who is interested in the offer, and then West could make inquiries where the best opportunities for their election would be, if they were willing to relocate; or if they wanted to run from their home of record, what their chances would be.

As such, they would be part of the prior-service military caucus, which due to its intestinal fortitude would likely have far more power than other caucuses of similar size.

Finally, West could affirm to the Tea Party the character of those candidates, and his respect and standing is such that there would be little question as to Tea Party support.

I wonder if anyone has ever suggested this to West?
