Newt Gingrich Endorsed by Architect of Reagan Economic Plan, Economist Arthur Laffer

Dyersville, IA – Renowned economist, father of The Laffer Curve and supply-side economics, and architect of the Ronald Reagan economic plan, Arthur Laffer, announced his endorsement today of Newt Gingrich for President of the United States.

“Newt has the best plan for jobs and economic growth of any candidate in the field,” said Laffer.

“Like Ronald Reagan’s tax cuts and pro-growth policies, Newt’s low individual and corporate tax rates, deregulation and strong dollar monetary policies will create a boom of new investment and economic growth leading to the creation of tens of millions of new jobs over the next decade. Plus, Newt’s record of helping Ronald Reagan pass the Kemp Roth tax cuts and enacting the largest capital gains tax cut in history as Speaker of the House shows he can get this plan passed and put it into action.”

Mr. Laffer will join Newt Gingrich in Storm Lake, IA Thursday for a formal press conference announcing the endorsement.

“Rebuilding the America we love requires returning to job creation and economic growth. We need big changes to fix the economy, and I am ready to stand up to Barack Obama’s class warfare rhetoric to make the case that letting the American people keep more of what they earn is the best way to create jobs.”

Dr. Laffer received his B.A. in economics from Yale, his MBA and Ph. D. in economics at Stanford. Laffer is the founder and chairman of Laffer Associates, an economic research firm focusing on interconnecting macroeconomics, political and demographic changes affecting global financial markets

Maybe the Rats should win: at least they will have to ‘own’ and take the blame for all their decades of unsustainable fiscal policies.

Maybe you are assuming the sheep will hang on to every word of your explanation as the failure unfolds. I don't wish to be accused of mind reading.

More likely, the rats will not take the blame for anything, and the media will work overtime blaming the likes of you and yours, as the circling of the bowl is completed.

What you said. Hell, Obama has never taken responsibility for a GD thing in his entire life.

". But Palin Smith says he’s a cheap turd. (you gotta respect that kind of deep reasoned and in depth analysis)."

I was only paraphrasing Laffer's own words.

His honor is only worth a penny?

Anybody can get it right once in a while, just like the weather forecasters.

At least Mitt went to $10,000.

Laffer was so insecure about his prediction and his "honor" he would only bet a cent!

I tend to simplify things.

No analysis is necessary when Laffer's own words destroy his credibility!!

*sigh*... does it get old trying to label everyone? Lets see....Paultard huh? What else do you want to try to guess? My favorite color?

Yes, THAT Peter Schiff. Who isn’t much of a candidate, but on economic matters is rock solid. AND who called this downturn almost perfectly. AND who did an AWESOME job telling an Occutard whats what.....

And yet... you don’t like him. Remarkable.

It has nothing to do with bashing Reagan. And Reagan does NOT equal Laffer.

Laffer is good on overall policy, but is lousy at seeing the forest for the trees (which he’s proved in recent years.) After watching him cheer lead for Bush’s economic policies, my respect for him started to drain away.

For the record, I like Peter Schiff a lot. I also like Laffer a lot. They are both very good at what they do and they are both imperfect. Did Schiff call this recession and did Laffer miss it? Damned right.

Did Laffer still provide much of the intellect and and inspiration behind Reaganomics and supply side theory? Damned right. Does Schiff believe in both supply side and Reaganomics? Damned right.

And does Schiff differ at all on the reasons Laffer supports Newt? Probably not. I don’t know who Schiff will support, but on the reasons that Laffer gave for supporting Newt, he and Schiff have no disagreement.

Therefore bringing up an unrelated argument between the two in 06 is simply a waste of time and creating a void where none exists. This debate adds nothing to this issue at hand, which is Laffers endorsement of Newt.
