GOP hopeful Mitt Romney made a guest appearance on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning, and hit on everything from his growing feud with Newt Gingrich to his record of conservatism as governor of Massachusetts.
Romney added a bit of a soft touch on Gingrichs inability to get on the ballot in Virginia by explaining why he compared Gingrich to Lucille Ball.
We all make mistakes and sometimes our campaigns cant get things done quite right. I dont compare those mistakes to Pearl Harbor. When I see mistakes, I try and find a little humor. In this case, Lucille Ball in the chocolate factory .Those of us who have gotten a little behind can identify with poor Lucy.
Host Steve Doocy then asked if Romney, who is on a bus tour, will be making any Honeymooners references, which led Romney into one of the most wooden Ralph Kramden imitations the world has ever seen.
One of these days, Alice, one of these days. Pow. Right to the moon. Yeah.
This seemed like the perfect time to segue into a Gingrich clip that challenged Romney to a face-to-face debate. Romney deftly scooted around it by saying that theyve already had 10 to 12 debates, and have two more in January. If it comes down to this, the two of us, at some point, we will debate person to person. But right now, there are a bunch of folks in this race, Romney explained. Newt and I are not necessarily number one and number two across the nation, so were going to have to narrow it down and see where it leads us.
With the one-on-one debate now scuttled, the topic moved to charges that Romney isnt conservative enough to please the Republican base. He rattled off a list of his conservative achievements done while Governor of Massachusetts, then addressed Romneycare, a provision that Gingrich actually applauded in a 2006 newsletter.
I knew that he supported the plan in the past. And I believe he supported it until he got into the race this year, but maybe before that he changed his view. But look, our plan was right for our state. And in my view, it was based upon conservative principles that, frankly, came from Newt Gingrich and the Heritage Foundation The plan is not perfect, there are things that Id change in it, but Ill stand by the things weve done.
Romney then added: I will do what I think is right for the people I represent.
Watch a clip of the interview with Romney, live from a coffee shop in Iowa, below, courtesy of Fox News:
Yeah mitt, you turned MA into a happy face version of North Korea.
I wonder what FR will do once Mitt starts racking up wins at primaries?
A bit of megalomaniac there ... “I will decide what I think is best”????
Romney lives in The Empire of the Ants.
He is a socialist sell-out.
Yeah, that's what we've got in Obama and don't want from you!!!!
I can't speak for the management, but I will not support him even if he wins every primary. I will not support him if he gets the GOP nomination. I will not support him if he wins the presidency.
No way, no how, no Chameleon. Now or ever.
He’s a liar.
Translation: “Once I have power, I will force the people to pay fines until they comply with my dictates!”
I watched this POS live......the readin of the article is very misleadin......FOX was in the can FOR MYTH....it made me hurl
Compare what Mitt for Brains did while he was Gov of Mass to what Gingrich did when he was Speaker.
Mitt passed Willard care which is bankrupting Mass, supported abortion, gay marriage, tax increases etc.
Gingrich, Got a republican majority-the first in 40 years, got tax decreases passed, got a budget passed that was nearly balanced, got spending down, welfare reform that was later ignored after he was hoisted out of the speakership. AFTER Gingrich was forced out by the Lindsey Graham bunch, the RINOs started to spend, spend, and spend like drunken sailors under GW Bush.
I think I will never support Romney-EVER.
I will decide what I think is best
Yeah, I thought that sounded mighty “Patriarchal”. Sounds like something a “High Priest” would say.
Well he sure did decide to mess up Massachusetts.
40% deficits, 100% GDP Debts. If the election is between Romney and Obama it really doesn’t matter who wins. They are both bat shit crazy.
The geniuses who run the republican party think Romney is the low risk candidate. They are living in a FANTASY world.
Mitt’s a flake. And I can’t remember which Freeper pointed it out, but the President of the United States isn’t a representative, he’s an executive. He’s not there to represent us to a higher authority.
Would that be for the majority or minority of the people you represent, Romney? For the life of me, you sound like the AnointedIdiot when he shoved TARP, the GM and Chrysler bailouts, and ObamaCare up our arses....when the majority were against them! You frakin white version of ObamaIdiot!! =.=
