Thanks for that link. I just made a quilt for a wounded soldier that will be delivered sometime this week, probably. In addition to the quilt I made matching friendship bracelets - one for me to wear so that as I work with my arms and see the bracelet I will remember to pray for the soldier and his/her family, and one for the soldier to wear as a reminder that somebody is praying multiple times a day for him/her. I’ve been praying for the last 2 weeks for whoever will end up with that quilt, that God would prepare them for what lies ahead if they’ve not been wounded yet or preserve as much of their health as possible if they’ve already been wounded.

The more I can learn about how to pray for our soldiers and their families, the better. I watched Black Hawk Down for the first time last week, to help me better understand what it might be like for them in the battlefield today.

Your friend’s post about platitudes from people living their comfortable lives at home hits hard. I’ve been very concerned for the lawlessness within our government and have been trying to do whatever I can to confront it as effectively as I can. But like somebody battling the deadly sleep of hypothermia, I have to fight the desire to just accept that the country is dying and slip into a comfortable but deadly sleep. My Dad - who is even more of a fighter than I am - told me on Friday that the government would never let Sheriff Joe reveal Obama’s ineligibility. It was an emotional roller-coaster, that oscillation between the red/fight code and black/”accept the loss of everything you love” code. It was the intense question of whether I could fight alone if everybody I know and love has already given up and thinks I’m crazy for keeping at it.

I needed to hear what your friend wrote. How can I support those fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan if I would give up the homeland to our own version of the Taliban here? Either place, it’s lawlessness, and it is deadly.

I will keep praying with all my heart. And I will keep fighting for every inch of ground here too.
