Kirby also said that he didn’t know what LSU was trying to do on offense and that it appeared that LSU didn’t know either. He seemed to be saying that LSU changed their offense for the game but did a terrible job executing the changes. It could not have helped that the LSU team set a curfew that they did not enforce. They had at least one key player out partying at all hours. That key player spent a lot of time on the ground, btw.
I asked my hubby to calculate the Bama starters from Alabama question. I’ll post when he lets me know. He is at work. It might be a while. lol Of the four players that some ESPN expert dude predicted would go in the first round of the NFL draft, 75% are from Bama. Trent Richardson would be the exception. He’s from Pensacola, which is just a step over the border.
31.8% of last night’s Bama starters are from out of state. Interestingly, this year’s freshman class at Bama has more out of state students than in state.
OK. I have to change my calculations. 7/21 starters for Bama are from Alabama. One player is listed as starting for offense and defense. So it’s 33.3% are from out of state.
For LSU, 27.27% starters are from out of state.
If 7 of 21 starters are from Alabama, wouldn't that make 66.6% from out of state?
I think Miles didn’t want to bench Jefferson in his last game. Also, Lee pretty much sucks. Alabama has eaten his lunch the past few years.
The Alabama D-line overwhelmed the LSU O-line on every play. There was nowhere to run, and Jefferson had no time in the pocket.
Bama was dominant. And I’m an LSU fan.
Oops. 7/21 are from out of state. Brain glitch. hah
While we’re talkin’ numbers, if you take Alabama’s total offense and subtract Jordan Jefferson’s run/pass totals, you get 316.
Some of those starters who are from out of state have ties to Alabama. Barrett Jones’ parents attended Alabama. Donte Hightower is from TN, but he has family in Alabama.
I’m just happy Jordan Jenkins changed his mind and decided to stay at home.
Not sure where you got those statistics and cannot dispute the very oldest ones. But I was a student at Ohio State between 1972 and 1976, and while our class went to four straight Rose Bowls (lost 3), were undefeated by that Team Up North (3/0/1), were ranked No. 1 for most of three of those seasons, and I was a classmate of the only two time Heisman winner, we ended up the season ranked no. 1 exactly zero times. Great teams but NO national championships, zilch, nada, didn’t happen.
Sometimes you have to change things up just for the heck of it, whether Lee’s past history against Bama was good or not.
My husband was talking about JJenkins last night and his decision to go to UGA. I’m not really into all the recruiting craziness. Choosing the “right” college is not easy for regular students, and I can only imagine the pressure for star athletes. Hopefully, the star athletes will end up in the best place for them and will excel in the classroom as well as on the field.
Yeah, I mean it’s not like Lee could’ve played any worse than Jefferson.
I think, for Miles, it came down to loyalty. Dance with the one who brung ya. Not saying it was the right decision. Frankly, trying to figure out Les Miles is a fool’s errand. He’s quirky.
Besides, it was pretty clear by halftime that LSU had no chance on offense. Their best bet was going to be to shore up the defense, and hope the Honey Badger could make a big play for them.
Instead, the Bama offense kept finding ways to move the ball, and they swarmed Mathieu on his only punt return.
Must’ve been real painful watching that after seeing what Matt Flynn did against the Lions.
26% of the state is Black. Some counties in Alabama are almost 100% Black.
Paying your players sure worked out for ya pretty good.
Fortunately, I’m not a die-hard LSU fan. I root for them because I have in-laws from Baton Rouge, and watching games with them growing up in Dallas was crazy fun.
Also, I thought Jessica Lange was smokin’ hot in “Everybody’s All American”, which took place at LSU.
I’m basically a superficial fan. I actually rooted for the Gators when Tebow was there. I live in LA now, so I root for USC occasionally. I didn’t go to college, so I have no alma mater. I can be flaky when it comes to college.
Roll Tide!
I reckon the state of Alabama should be considered a “football power”. Outsiders just don’t understand how it is here in Bama. To those that were bored, sorry. That’s just how we play down here. Steady as she goes.
That's because he's a Mobile Boy and was raised right.
I took it off of the site linked to the article. There were many polls at the time with some disagreeing with others so mythical national titles were shared. According to the stats, Oklahoma, Ohio Stare, and Alabama shared the title in 1975.
