Just maybe it's because we've been lied to, cheated, and/or screwed over more often by self proclaimed born again Christians than by used car salesmen, crack heads, or more overt politicians.

There's a whole bunch of "believers" out there that Jesus would have taken a switch to!

Yes that is true, but Christ does have churches out there that he wants his flock to attend. If at first you do not find one, keep looking. Those who think they can get along fine without attending church or being around His flock are in danger of being picked off.

There is no such thing as a lone wolf Christian, and God does not want us to be one.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:23-25

I have met many bad Christians, but I have met many, many more who were loving and willing to give the shirt off their own back to help total strangers. So keep looking, and God will guide you to those who are truly His.
