Forget the legalities, your jarhead friend should just suck it up. Move on. 2 months rent? Come on. He should have put his stuff in storage if he knew rent was a problem.

I agree burglary is LEGALLY more serious than not paying rent. But not paying rent is legalized theft, IMO.
