Thanks for the LINK. Interesting. Obviously the comments are from people on the Left — so vile.

No one believes Newt is Mary Poppins but it would be a stretch to paint him as a villain in this soap opera.

One thing that came to mind when I read Susan Molinari’s name — remember her short stint on CBS News — the controversy that she wasn’t a news person — but a politician (the Left never batted an eye at Stephanopoulos) and soon she just faded away?

I thought she did a good job and remember her because I felt it was spineless of CBS to let her go. Perhaps there is much more to her hiring and to her departure.

Here is a campaign hit ad against Newt from Molinari:

And here’s a July 2011 piece published by Fox News by Susan Molinari:

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/07/26/drunk-driving-tragedy-is-reminder-that-solution-rests-with-all-us/

Susan Molinari, a former Member of Congress from New York, is currently the Chairman of The Century Council, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to fighting drunk driving and underage drinking.

Then in The Hill — 10/27/10 :

Former Rep. Susan Molinari (R-N.Y.) is launching her own lobbying firm.

In a press release late Tuesday, Molinari announced she was starting a new firm called Susan Molinari Strategies. The firm will focus on lobbying, message development and counseling for corporations working on social responsibility and diversity.

“Over the past decade, I’ve provided personalized and effective federal advocacy and message development on behalf of hundreds of interests, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to trade groups to governments,” Molinari said in a statement. “My priority is personalized, hands-on assistance to clients who require in depth solutions to their federal relations challenges.”

After her father, former Rep. Guy Molinari (R-N.Y.), left Congress to become borough president of Staten Island, Molinari was elected to his seat in 1990. Molinari was the keynote speaker at the 1996 Republican Convention and served until 1997, when she resigned to join CBS as a television journalist.

She later joined K Street, starting her own firm in 1998.

See post and link at post. It indicates who began the Newt/Hume rumor in March, 1998.

Read on another thread last Night that Brit has a personal issue against Newt, and probably should be recusing himself from analysis.

I lost a lot of respect for him lately, and he used to be one of my favorites.

Excellent graphic! I love it!

“There is something there vis-a-vis Gingrich and Paxon that has not been delineated.”

Paxon, Molinari’s husband, was the ringleader to try to throw out Newt.

Dick Armey didn’t go along with that.

That’s my memory anyway.

Brit is a disappointment in any election, but to see him get his panties in a wad is pure entertainment. ;o)

Perhaps the beltway establishment is helping Brit financially since his retirement from a more prominent role at FOXNEWS?

In the case of Brit Hume and Newt Gingrich, it is hate. It’s very deep and very personal. And because of it, Brit should not be covering this election.

Brit seems to believe the rumor that Newt is the person who leaked the rumor about his son, who committed suicide at age 28, being involved in a homosexual relationship with former NY GOP Rep Bill Paxon, husband of former NY GOP Rep Susan Molinari (whose Romney ad attacking Newt was all over the radio last week). Others think it was Dick Armey.

Doesn’t matter who did the leaking, or even the truth of any of the rumors. What matters is what Brit seems to believe. So the anger/hatred/hurt is understandable for Brit as a bereaved father, not as a journalist or commentator, or opinion maker. In that belief he has lost any objectivity whatsoever. And it seems his colleagues at Fox are supporting Brit. None of them pass the ‘fair and balanced’ test.
