When will Brit Hume make it official and endorse Mitt Romney?

When will Brit Hume make it official and endorse Mitt Romney?

Or is he more effective behind the Fox News Network banner being "Fair and Balanced?"

Just as Fox News was about to sign off last night, Brit Hume listed the positives and negatives of the 4 candidates [Newt’s negatives are high].

After reporting those "intensity numbers," Brit Hume closed the show by saying [paraphrased] "Every GOP candidate, up and down the ticket, running for election in 2012, will do everything in their power to make sure Newt Gingrich isn’t the nominee."

That is how Brit Hume chose to close Fox New's reporting of a BIG Gringrich sweep of South Carolina -- on the eve of a Gingrich-Romney battle, as the campaigns move into Florida looking for campaign money and votes to keep battling forward.

Do you think Brit Hume's comments will give donors pause? Depress Newt's electability? I found it appalling. But not surprising -- especially in light of their treatment of the GOP Primary field to date.

Sorry to say that we have lost Fox News as a resource in our battle against the MSM. It has joined the MSM and is now an official member. And Brit Hume, sad to say, seems to be the most willing participant.

I've written them off. No more Faux News for me. I liked the Old Fox News but the new one is worthless.

Sorry to say that we have lost Fox News....

They went for a "base" to build up their viewership and then wanted to expand their viewership and lost their way -- becoming just like the others -- conventional and Beltway predictable.

“Not just the RNC but the media is scared to death of Newt, I think. They are seeing the end of a era and they are panicking. Thank the internet.”

Great observations. When the light goes on, the roaches scatter.

Not just the RNC but the media is scared to death of Newt, I think. They are seeing the end of a era and they are panicking. Thank the internet.

Coulter, Rove, John Hinderaker and now Brit Hume all want the defeat of Obama, but they don't see that the media has lost its ability to persuade, therefore they do fear a Newt candidacy.

There's a lot of anger and fear in this country. Much of the anger is directed at the media, who sold us this bill-of-goods that is Barack Obama.

People feel duped, especially independents. It's not so much that the media didn't vet him, they blatantly lied for him.

There is a new dynamic as relates to the media and its role in the coming election. Let's remember that the lib media shilled for each and every dem in 2010, in state, local, and Congressional elections-and lost.

Coulter, Rove, Hume, et al, are ascribing far too much power to the media's ability to persuade. They are not aware of the depth of anger and fear out here on main street. Independents came our way in 2010, and women, for crying out loud, came out for Newt yesterday in SC. There's a new world, and yes, as you say, the internet is playing a huge role in changing the paradigm.

“P.S. Whatever my disagreements with you, CW, I wanted to repeat once again that you are a class act. You took a lot of heat for supporting Gov. Perry yet you provided a ton of info on him and positive support for him, as opposed to the tearing-down of other candidates.

I’ll second that. That info was responsible for me becoming a Perry supporter (and a poster instead of a lurker).

"Why can’t a commentator, who isn’t a reporter, give an opinion that isn’t happiness and joy?'

That's a good point. Krauthammer said "It's analysis, not advocacy". Yeah that's a little bite of a weasel out, but it's true.

While Krauthammer IMHO appears to be even keeled in his "analysis". Hume does not. His verbiage and commentary structure indicates a clear bias AGAINST Newt.

Much of what you write is true, but Newt’s problems of character and temperament are well known. They must be weighed against his accomplishments and virtues. On balance, I am for Newt — but with my eyes open.

The media attack on Gingrich backfired in South Carolina. Yet in the long run, anger at the media is a thin basis for a Presidential campaign.

Few Presidential elections can be taken as of certain result. A decisively large slice of the electorate still likes Obama personally, so the news media will frame an Obama vs. Gingrich election as a choice of personalities, with Newt’s flaws given constant attention.

But don’t forget that Kraut is a psychologist who used to work for the dems.

I don’t trust him at all.

He actively participated in the take-down of Herman Cain, who was our best chance for the most freedom this go-round.

But God is in control, so I guess it wasn’t to be, this time.

My position from here on out, is whoever the media hates / fears most, is who gets my support.

Newt.

Who can best articulate for the nomination, and in the general, that liberty is what makes America great?

Newt.

It can fairly be said that Romney lost South Carolina as much as Gingrich won it. Romney’s can and will lose the nomination if he does not swiftly remedy his flaws as a candidate and the top down style of his campaign.

Turned off FOX long before Hume's final statement, didn't know he went that far.
He's now in the same category as Rove, Juan, Colmes, Coulter, Kelly and deserves the same amount of credibility as far as this conservative is concerned.

True colors are coming out everywhere.

Email I sent to Fox:

Stop trying to shove the RINO flip flopper, Romney, down our throats.
I thought Fox was supposed to be ‘fair and balanced’.
You have ALL been unfair, rude and dismissive to Newt Gingrich, as well as Rick Perry.

Color me gullible, but I believe any political analyst who wants to be taken seriously -and I believe Krauthammer does- would go out of their way to not ‘appear’ bias. Hume let’s his slip show FAR too often.

That said, I agree with a few points. Charles was contemptuous towards Cain, and he was far from alone. Many did not take Cain seriously.
Personally, I wanted to, but his constantly saying he would create a panel of experts to address every complex issue made him look pretty clueless.

I also agree with;
“My position from here on out, is whoever the media hates / fears most, is who gets my support.

Newt.

Who can best articulate for the nomination, and in the general, that liberty is what makes America great?

Newt.”

“A decisively large slice of the electorate still likes”

I don’t agree with that at all. The 2010 elections were a referendum on both Obama the man and his policies. Both he and his policies were repuciated. The only people that like Obama and what he is doing is the liberal base of his party, the blacks, and the new media. All three of these groups have the same mindset. Obama, his policies, and his leadership were all thrown on the trash heap of society in the 2010 electons.

The press cheerleads for Obama day in and day out, if it were not for that, the man’s approval ratings would be in the teens. The press is carrying this man’s sorry a##. The majority of the American electorate, I believe, have great disdain and the utomost contempt for the man. As they should.

The electorate is reshaped in every election seasons, and the lessons of 2010 are already stale, even misleading. The best guide to the contours of the 2012 general election -- polling -- shows that the general public mostly likes and respects Obama as a person, respects but is cool toward Romney, and, to a large degree, dislikes Newt as a person and is not sure of what he would do as President.

Can that change during a campaign? Of course it can, but starting out with high negatives for your candidate adds to the burdens and difficulties of a general election campaign.

In compensation, Newt brings the assets of energy, experience, and a willingness to fight. And Romney's political blunders and lack of warmth and personal rapport with the public undermines the attractiveness that his resume indicates that he should have.
