Federal officials are not pursuing potential deportation of the 12 illegal immigrants arrested in Tuesdays protest in downtown San Bernardino against federal immigration programs and policies.
The protesters were arrested on suspicion of unlawful assembly and refusal to disperse after blocking traffic on streets in front of San Bernardino City Hall and a local office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
ICE routinely screens jail inmates in San Bernardino County for immigration violations. The countys collaboration with ICE was one of the reasons for the protest. In many cases, ICE places detainers on suspected illegal immigrants. They are then transferred to ICE custody after serving time in jail or prison.
Consistent with the agencys current enforcement priorities, no detainers were placed on these subjects, ICE said in a statement.
The 10 adults who were arrested were released Wednesday from West Valley Detention Center, according to jail records. The two 17-year-olds were released to their parents.

Invasion is a civil right, but only if you're Mexican
All others get in line
Fine, the “federal officials” should be deported. The federal government has become the greatest threat to America.
If I refused to do my job, I’d be fired.
This is treason.
I think we can give up on the whole border control fantasy now. Its too late and ain’t gonna get any better without much more aggressive action.
There is a Mexican Consulate Office right across the street. Perhaps they were just in line.
Laws are pointless when those who break them are cut loose before the papwerwork is finished.
30 days would change this whole situation
