It's Not About Newt
American Thinker ^ | January 28, 2012 | Joseph M. Koenig

GOP voters are sending a clarion call to the party establishment, but it seems GOP leaders are not getting the message. The statement being sent to the GOP elite isn't about Newt, and it goes beyond even Romney. It is about a deep dissatisfaction that has been building for years within the Republican rank and file.

With the proclamations of Bob Dole and others against Newt Gingrich recently, it is clear the GOP establishment fears a Gingrich nomination. In truth, however, it is the GOP establishment's own ineffectual leadership that led to the recent surge of the former Speaker of the House.

Newt is the only one with the balls to say what needs to be said.

We are NOT “rank and file” Republicans...we are AMERICANS who long to be free...this nation is a socialist, perverted image of what was America...we want it back. The leaders of both parties believe they have royalty status and that they have a right to control us with their superior intellect and status.

We so resoundingly...NO!

The leaders of both parties believe they have royalty status and that they have a right to control us with their confiscatory taxation, superior intellect and status.

Fixed. We want the Republic restored.

EXCELLENT comment
Never was the depth of the elitist rot revealed so much as when the war of the so-called conservative establishment (aka RINOs) began upon Gingrich. Some fell in the PDS attacks on Palin of 2008, more are now revealed.

“Newt is the only one with the balls to say what needs to be said.”

If becoming “establishment” would get Newt the nomination, that is what he would do.

If he actually manages to get the nomination, you’ll see him become that “establishment” man.

That’s his pattern. That’s what he will do - yet so many people here are willing to invest all their conservative hopes in a guy who has proven to be a political opportunist time and time again.

No Newt, No Romney.....I’m for a brokered convention at this point as the best way to get “some” conservative principles into our nominee.

Gingrich shrugged off the establishment attacks Friday. “If you’re an establishment Republican and you’re enjoying life in Washington and you don’t mind presiding over the decay, I’m a threat,” he told NBC News. “You can tell who they are by how hysterical they get.”

Time to put the fear aside that a third party is not the way to go!
I say this is the right time for a Conservative Party to arise and challenge the other liberal parties.
Newt is no Ross Perot.

I heard a liberal slime say this is a battle between “Beer Swillers and Wine Sippers.” I know who should win if that is the case. Pour me a beer please as we bring Newt over the line here in FL.

Does Newt have a chance? I must admit the media is getting me down with the “Romney is inevitable” stories.

I understand the the sentiment, but the article is about the rank and file republicans, not American voters in general.

That's not a bad description, really. If I were to try and describe it, I would say it's between the voters and candidates in the republican party, that want the power and control to make the drastic changes necessary to fix the serious and dangerous problems we have, and consequently, save our beloved republic...and those who simply want the power and control.

Yes, and we want the government fixed (neutered).

Our only hope is to repeal the Sixteenth Amendment but that will never happen so prepare for collapse.

Are you hoping for Paul to influence or lead the party?

I keep hoping the Ron will be the "last man standing" in this circular firing squad.

Somebody Finally gets it, and dares to put in in print. This is exactly spot on. We the people want a REAL LEADER, unafraid to take the fight right to the doorstep of the Enemy, The Ruling Class Establishment. We do not want any of the tired old liars that represent the Establishment. We want a John Wayne kind of guy, in your face with cold, hard fact and truth told in a no nonsense manner right in your face. Go Newt and take the fight to them, you never win being on defense.

To an extent your liberal friend is correct.

And sitting here reading FR and listening to a local talk radio show a very random fleeting thought crossed my mind regarding Romney. Romney the ‘wine sipper.’

We must be very careful and understand that the nomination of Romeny is a community organizer’s wet dream. Romney the Wine Sipper, can’t beat the organizer. Today...maybe. By November, I don’t think he could. The community organizer knows very well how to shred someone like Romney to pieces. And if you read any of his speeches lately...he is setting things up for Romney to fall like a bank doing a CRA loan.

Newt on the other-hand is like the neighborhood pitbull. I like Newt and in many ways I do trust him to do the right thing with the long range goal in perspective. What we will need though is a congress to keep him in check, and I think that our Tea Party congress critters...just might be in a decent position to help do that with Newt. As where with Romney, they will continue to be shut out by the GOP elite.

Newt for all his flaws and failings seems more real, more of a person, more dedicated to getting our country back than any of the candidates.
