Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum shoots to the top among Ohio likely Republican primary voters with 36 percent, followed by 29 percent for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, according to a Quinnpiac University poll released today. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich runs third with 20 percent, while Texas U.S. Rep Ron Paul gets 9 percent.

Three weeks before the March 6 primary, 50 percent of likely Republican primary voters say they may change their mind. The first survey of likely voters can not be compared with earlier surveys of registered Republicans.

We’ll get Mitt anyway. Massive amounts of negative campaign will begin, in great earnest. Main Strem Media outlets will fix this in a couple of days of psycho ops in editorials all across the fruited plains.

Muy Excellente!!!

Time for team Mittens to scorch some Buckeye soil. Keep dragging your positives down Mitt. You sure as hell cannot compete in the conservative arena in a fair fight of ideas and actions. The past is prologue you doofus and we’re hip to you!

They will portray the following as Rick taking his wife out on Valentines Day.

They're awaiting thought guidance from the propaganda ministers.

The poll also said:

“In Ohio’s U.S. Senate race, Democratic incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown leads Republican Josh Mandel, 48 - 35 percent. Voters approve 47 - 34 percent of the job Brown is doing and say 46 - 34 percent that he deserves a second term in the Senate.”

Can someone from Ohio please explain what makes that marxist bastard Brown so golden out there? Or is it just that Ohio has drifted inexorably leftward?

Ohio is a strange bird at this point in time. Lots of populist tendencies that could cut either way. A major reason they don't like Obama is that he lied to them about NAFTA. They are looking for someone who says he will end Free Trade and really mean it.

Tread carefully, Rick

National polling isn't the bell weather as our elections are decided state by state. But Santorum has pulled ahead on a national level in the last week.

2012 Republican Presidential Nomination

Polling Data

Poll Date Sample MoE Santorum Romney Gingrich Paul Spread
RCP Average 2/6 - 2/13 -- -- 30.8 29.2 16.2 12.7 Santorum +1.6
CNN/Opinion Research 2/10 - 2/13 478 A 4.5 34 32 15 16 Santorum +2
Gallup Tracking 2/9 - 2/13 1200 RV 4.0 30 32 16 8 Romney +2
CBS News/NY Times 2/8 - 2/13 331 RV 5.0 30 27 10 12 Santorum +3
Pew Research 2/8 - 2/12 552 RV 5.0 30 28 17 12 Santorum +2
PPP (D) 2/9 - 2/10 656 RV 3.8 38 23 17 13 Santorum +15
FOX News 2/6 - 2/9 407 RV 5.0 23 33 22 15 Romney +10

At the link is a graphic that depicts how each candidate; Perry, Cain, Gringrich and now Santorum, have pulled ahead only to fall back. I'm not sure what the final outcome will be but so far no one has seemed to be able to get solid footing with the voters.

President Barack Obama would get 46 percent of Ohio registered voters, to Romney's 44 percent if the November election were today, similar to the 44 - 42 percent result in a January 18 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University. Obama tops Santorum 47 - 41 percent and beats Gingrich 50 - 38 percent in general election matchups.

I refuse to believe it. We can't be that stupid....can we?

I don't see either. I really don't. That poll number hit me out of nowhere. The only thing I can figure is that there are just a huge amount of people that pay very little attention and vote with whatever party they've traditionally voted for.

I see very very few true leftist supporters here (NEO). I do see a lot of people who identify as "d" because they always have. Those who pay little attention may only be grasping at the false media pretense that "d"'s support the middle and lower classes and "r"'s support the rich. They think in terms of that one very basic (albeit false) stereotype. It's as far as they care to dig into the situation. Many also simply vote as their union instructs them to.

If I had to bet either way though, Obama and Brown will both lose here when it's all said and done.
