The storm clouds hovering over New Orleans today have nothing to do with the vestiges of Katrina or another imminent threat, and instead result from the NFLs Saints, team-sponsored reward system for purposefully injuring and maiming opponents. The allegations of gross impropriety center around Gregg Williams, a tough-guy-wannabe and former defensive coordinator as well as aloofly defiant head coach Sean Payton. Both men and team management had been warned repeatedly about the illegality of such practice yet they blatantly defied league orders and endorsed the continued practice of financial incentives for inflicting significant harm to opposing players. There is a parallel.
A similar plan with inducements must exist within the current administration, for assuredly there are enticements in place for those who propose radical ideas that run contrary to the fabric upon which the country was built and which complement a madmans wishes to propose anything that will cut like a ripsaw against the Constitution. Initially Mr. Obama was content to carry on his pro-American jive to not rile conservatives, keep the media in full swoon, and con an electorate into mistaking flamboyant rhetoric for substance. Now he simply doesnt care. He will disassemble and rearrange details like a card shark shuffling a deck, run it through the spin cycle of his duplicitous mind, and then spit out contrivances such as blaming Israels sovereign right to defend itself for rising oil prices, or the media bearing responsibility for the Chevy Volt boondoggle, or accusing GOP candidates of promoting war with Iran , a country with such nefarious intentions it relies upon twisted permutations of religious doctrine to justify its goal to obliterate Israel.
The overwhelming evidence that the president has morphed from sociopath to psychopath has nothing to do with political double-speak and instead results from no longer hiding his communist predilections, which cause him to misrepresent circumstances with such frequency that he is now incapable of addressing crucial facts and reality when rational thinking is required. Now that all pretense and artifice are gone it is clear his systematic machinations are no longer aimed at weakening the United States, but, in fact, destroying it.
Mr. Obama has recently drawn unfavorable comparisons to Neville Chamberlain for absurdly believing it possible to negotiate with Iranian terrorist leadership in a manner reminiscent of Chamberlains ignorance and stubbornness to address the true intentions of Hitler. Perhaps that is why his handlers have tossed out pseudo-similarities in recent months between him, President Truman, President Reagan, Gandhi, and Jesus. Mr. Obama is more mindful of Joseph P. Kennedy who, as Ambassador to Great Britain, was ultimately removed from his post by FDR for sending cables incessantly stating he thought Hitler could be made a manageable partner.
Mr. Obama was intimidated sufficiently by the stern and brilliant countenance of Benjamin Netanyahu for two days this week and talked tough on behalf of our only ally in the Middle East, yet before Netanyahus plane cleared American airspace he seized the opportunity to backtrack again on his commitment to Israel, and actually raised the cost of war as a consideration less than a week after submitting a budget with one trillion dollars in social engineering overruns.
The cabinet member most likely earning the maximum incentive for advocating policies detrimental to America is Energy Secretary Steven Chu, the man who has overseen the Squander and Launder Campaign in charge of funneling billions of dollars to handpicked companies under the guise of developing green energy, and lining the pockets of large Democrat contributors in the process. To date, he has dispensed $6.5 Billion to a select group of companies, five of which have filed for bankruptcy and the rest of whom have no meaningful revenue. Such are the perils to tax payers when an academic ideologue with no experience in economics and the business acumen of my lab-mix puppy is allowed to allot our money under the ruse of seeking alternative sources of energy with a wink and a nod that those funds make it through the rinse cycle and back into left wing political coffers. When Dr. Paul Broun, Representative from Georgia, asked Mr. Chu to grade his stewardship in energy to date, Steve-O responded that he thought hed earned an A-Minus.
Mr. Chu shared a Nobel Prize with colleagues for cooling and containing atoms with the use of a laser. He believes the world will one day be a glucose-based economy that will cultivate plants high in complex sugars and transport syrup worldwide in much the same way oil is moved today. Appointing a energy secretary filled with such dream-sequence blather would be like installing a new transportation secretary because he was a fan of The Jetsons, and demonstrates that Mr. Chu has no practical understanding of how to remove our country from the OPEC tethercord. Fantasies about tankers filled with Karo Syrup and fiddling with lasers does not equip an individual to run an energy department unless the person in charge of the appointment desired a malleable fool to run tangentially away from all common sense.
The world has a petroleum-based economy, Mr. Secretary. That fact might offend your sensibilities, insular as they are, but it is axiomatic and not going to change in your lifetime. The long term solution for alternative fuels will not come about more quickly because you weaken our country by restricting drilling and development and because you believe in air castles and funding Utopian fops. You as a scientist should know that research cannot be hurried and that no amount of money speeds up the experimental process. You have wreaked the requisite havoc required by your appointment, Sir. Now, kindly retreat to the confines of your sterilized cocoon where reality never knocks.
A glucose based economy?
A gram of glucose is about 4 calories
A gram of gasoline is about 11.88 calories
(31,500 calories / gallon divided by 2,650 grams per gallon)
So by this math we would either need approximately 3 times the present levels of oil a glucose IF we could convert it to energy as efficiently as gasoline.
On the other hand we could consume the same volume of glucose as we now do gasoline and do about 1/3 the work.
Not to mention the vast increase in crop production requrired instead of eating it we’ll just burn it... and starve.
Gee chew on that awhile. What a bright future. It all sounds a little sticky to me.
Wow. “... endorsed the continued practice of financial incentives for inflicting significant harm to opposing players.”
Good reason for “opposing players” to CCW on the field, IMO.
Do a cost of fertilizer my FRiend. It is here that their Go-Green world comes crashing down.
And a few other things as well but you are correct. Crops are made for eating, not burning.
We are feeding stock and chickens what amounts to junk grain now. A bad harvest will mean we have to import grain.
Obama’s Algae Oil fantasy is one of those bio fuels that had me hoping would happen. Then along comes this study that estimates the amount of phosphates we would need for the algae to “grow” enough oil. It would drive up the cost of phosphate to that of gold. Then we would have no way to fertilize our crops. You would have a way to get the food from the farm to market, but people would starve with crops lacking fertilizer.
Unless there are unicorns and magic fairies who sprinkle wish come true dust on every thing... every thing has a cost and a consequence.
LIFtR and Thorium should be the next energy future and it should start NOW. Forget everything else after hydrocarbons.
I am certain that Thorium energy will be the most important technological achievement since man created fire. It is in its development stage and people are working on it around the world.
Where? Everybody but U.S. We closed our unit decades ago. The Indians are going at it full bore. Where are WE working on Thorium Energy? I don’t believe DOE even thinks about Thorium.
