Liberals Face Rude Awakening As Obamacare Case Forces Them To Acknowledge Conservative Arguments

After three days of oral arguments at the Supreme Court on Obamcare, liberals seem genuinely stunned that Obamacare has a good chance of going down in flames. They never saw it coming.

Consider this exchange between CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin and anchor Wolf Blitzer on the first day of the argument which focused on the individual mandate, provision of Obamacare which forces all Americans to purchase medical insurance or procure it via their employers:

TOOBIN: This was a train wreck for the Obama administration. This law looks like it's gonna be struck down. Justice Kennedy, the swing vote, was enormously skeptical. Every comment Kennedy made -- uh, at least that I heard -- was skeptical of the law. The wild card in this argument was, uh, Chief Justice Roberts. Chief Justice Roberts actually asked a lot of hard questions. Roberts seemed like a much more likely vote to uphold the law than Kennedy was.

BLITZER: This is really huge!

Anyone who had paid attention to conservative arguments about Obamacare leading up to its passage wouldn't have been so surprised. But that's what happens when liberal media elites spend all their time talking to liberal lawyers and liberal legal commentators about pending Supreme Court cases. They can't envision the possibility that, just maybe, the conservatives might have the better legal argument.

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh noticed this as well, marveling in a segment on Obamacare that this might actually be the first time many liberal elites have heard a conservative argument about the issue in its full context and force.

That's largely because most of them are so insulated from anything conservative or libertarian, hearing well-articulated conservative arguments being well-received simply does not compute.

Blitzer is one of the liberal media elites now trying to distance himself from the other liberal media elites.

I am quite certain that I have not heard anywhere in the last week that its current status is indeed Unconstitutional per the 4th Circuit and is therefore the law of the land.

I hope that the S.C. keeps that in mind in the same way the NFL looks at replays — that they will need clear, compelling, obvious evidence that the original decision was wrong.

I’m not sure it’s time to celebrate the several of Obamacare just yet. Justices on the Supreme Court are well known to ask pointed questions about the case before them, even if they eventually decide in favor of the very same matter. There are many instances of that happening throughout our history, and even on the current court.

Part of the Justice’s questioning is about clarifying their own thoughts on the issues in question and placing markers about their position as a starting point for their conference among themselves to decide the merits of the case.

There are too many people out there who don't really care if the mandate sets a dangerous precedent or if it is unconstitutional.

All they care about is sticking it to conservatives.

I suspect that forty million mindless Democrats will wake up this summer....hear that the healthcare package has been tossed out, and sit there trying to listen to MSNBC or ABC or CBS....trying to grasp how this came to be. The explanation won’t make any sense to them....and I suspect those news sources will lose a quarter of their audience on a long-term basis.

Bingo. It is beyond their comprehension that conservativism works favorably towards their lives. I was a liberal back in high school and always hated Republicans. The day came when my Filipino neighbor told me he read the Dumocrat constitution and it read like a Communist Manifesto so I read it. Liberals have always been weak slaves and control freaks.

According to Rush... "someone" in the "room" told him that this court does no conferencing. Rush is also close with one of the SCOTUS justices... could be him. This person said that they do not discuss things amongst themselves. This person said that it would be a waste of time trying to change the liberal mindset of the progressive members. They do it all in writing. Rush talked about this yesterday... I think.

He said he talked with -A- judge (by email). I certainly did not hear him say he was close with a SCOTUS judge.

Here’s my $.03, YMMV.

I think Obama has to know by now he is a one termer. If he doesn’t, then he is in more denial then Der Shickelgruber was in April 1945 as the Red Army send all kinds of explosive candygrams at the door.

Liberals know this law sucked, I mean, Nancy Pelosi pretty much guaranteed she’ll never gavel the House to order again after her infamous “We have to pass the bill to know what’s in it.”

Right now, all of Obama’s supporters are looking for the exits. Obama right now is grasping at straws for a legacy, but I think the court shot him down and he knows it. Couple that with the well, overwhelming rejection of his budget, and he knows his lame-duck may as well begin now.

“Obama right now is grasping at straws for a legacy, . . .”

Well, when his grandkids ask him, “Grandpa, what did you do as president,” he can always point to the trillion and a half dollar a year deficit, Soylanda and the Chevy Volt. He can tell them about how he drove a proud nation into bankruptcy and got even with all those white folks clinging to their guns and religion.

He has a remarkable legacy.

Please re-read what I said. Not today but yesterday... and he never mentioned a judge during this instance... I did... I pondered that it might be a close friend of his that sits on that bench. I did not say that it was... I said it “might” be. Rush said, “this person knows... is in the room”. That puts whomever it is, within the confidence of the court. Then he referred to this person saying, “when we”... and that is where my conjecture on this persons identity came from. The bottom line is that this person... whomever he or she is... said that they do not get together and “discuss” cases. That is all that I know.
