Republican White House candidate Mitt Romney said Friday that global warming is real and that human activity is among the causes.
Reuters reports from New Hampshire:
Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney broke with Republican orthodoxy on Friday by saying he believes that humans are responsible, at least to some extent, for climate change.
"I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that," he told a crowd of about 200 at a town hall meeting in Manchester, N.H.
"It's important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors."
The story later adds:
The United States cannot go it alone in attempting to trim emissions levels and give a free pass to countries such as China and Brazil, Romney said. "It's not called American warming, it's called global warming," he said.

To: SoConPubbie
What do you expect? He gets his science advice from one of the head watermelons - James Hansen.
This should alarm everyone, not just because of the global warming/carbon tax angle, but also for what it sys about the advisors Romney surrounds himself with. You can expect that should it come to judicial appointments, Romney will reach in the same direction, i.e. leftwards, for his advice on Constitutional philosophy and judicial selections.

Hey, no worry. He'll "Etch-a-Sketch" that, too. We need to concentrate on getting Conservatives elected in the House and Senate. THEN, we'll twist Mitt's arm to sign the bills they give him. Much better than Barry. My idea for a Romney bumper sticker is "Not my first choice, BUT HE'LL DO"

You're whistling past the graveyard if you really think anyone is going to twist Romney's arm to do anything against his nature.
He has a documented history of saying the conservative thing on multiple issues and then making sure the far-left-wing, Progressive Liberal consequence is enacted, from Gay Marriage, to Gay Adoption, to implementing a Cap-and-trade aystem, to raising taxes 300%, to implementing an Assault Weapons Ban in MA.
You apparently don't know much about Romney and his horrible left-wing, Progressive Liberal record.

That's what's wrong with Mittens. What he said yesterday / last year IS what he believes. Now he's just lying to us so he can call himself erroneously Severely Conservative.
What the HECK is going on here folks? Old article yes - but this is what Obama does. Lies to get elected then turns on his purely socialist actions.
Wake up folks before it's too late.

It seems to me you are trying to lead people not to vote, to stay home. Maybe you should follow President Reagans Rule, the 11th commandment which says, Dont speak ill of another Republican. thats all you ever do, if you are, a plant, go away, write your stuff on MSNBC

If anyone believes mitt has to be better than Obama they are utterly delusional.
mitt and obama do not warrant a vote from anyone who believes in our Constitution.
The individual is scorned by each of these cretins. I loathe them both equally -- for they worship at the alter of State Power.

Why would someone post it here and now if its THAT old??? Subterfuge???Do you honestly believe that in the past year mitt backed away from AGW? AGW is a very important issue for me. It is the biggest fraud in world history.
If anything, once mitt get's the nod he will go more left on this issue.
I have seen quite of few videos of mitt speaking of AGW and it's easy to see he truly has a passionate belief in man being the problem. It's part of his core beliefs, not a flip-flop position he has shown on many other issues.
Mitt Romney is an true enemy of our Constitution.

If you have thoroughly reviewed my posts then you also know I have had all kinds of positive posts about Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, and Santorum, and you would also know I regularly post on the religion forum.
And yet nothing in your accusation goes to prove me wrong about either McCain or Romney now, does it?!

Not going away dude!
This is a conservative site, not a Republican site.
We fight for conservative principles on this site, and for the Republicans, when they align with those principles, both McCain and Romney are/were too far left to be fought for on this site.
Read Jim Robinson's statement here if you don't believe me:
In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side. Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I'm trying to attract to FR) support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule.
Therefore, we wholeheartedly support the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes on known terrorist states and organizations that are believed to present a clear threat to our freedom or national security. We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency. We do not believe in surrendering to the terrorists as France, Germany, Russia and Spain have done and as Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton and the Democrats, et al, are proposing.
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.
Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants.
We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.
Our God-given liberty and freedoms are not negotiable.
May God bless and protect our men and women in uniform fighting for our freedom and may God continue to bless America.

Apparently you have not been paying attention where Romney is concerned.
This isn't just about AGW, this is about everything about romney.
1. His support for Abortion
2. His implementation of Gay Marriage in MA.
3. His forcing Gay Adoptionin MA.
4. His support for Amnesty for Illegal Aliens
5. His refusal to support the Bush Tax Cuts.
6. His raising taxes/fees 300% in MA.
7. His support for the Brady Bill
8. His implementation of an "Assault Weapons Ban" in MA.
9. His implementation of a Cap and Trade system in MA.
10. His implementation of RomneyCare a socialist HealthCare program replete with an Individual Mandate and $50 dollar Abortions.
11. His constant lying about his record
12. His character assasination of both Newt and Rick
Get real, if it was just about AGW, Romney would have wrapped up the nomination months ago.
