ELMWOOD PARK Just as the killing of Trayvon Martin is seen in differing ways, so is a mural created as a tribute to the Florida teen.
Artists call the mural in Elmwood Park an expression of solidarity for the young shooting victim, while some neighbors oppose the display, saying it promotes gang activity.
Now town officials say the mural at Messina deli on East 54th street must come down.
"We got multiple complaints from residents in the area," said mayor Richard Mola. "What they told me is they just dont like whats up there."
Mola, who said he has not seen the mural, said the building inspector told the artists to paint over the work because it violated local ordinances. He could not specify which ones.
The towns website defines graffiti as "knowingly vandalizing or defacing property."(continued)

Too much to do about nothing.
I can just see it about a week before election day Obama announces Trayvon Martin Day the observance will be a on the monday following the date of his death government office will be closed and trash delivery will be delayed one day Thank you and may god bless the middle east
I wonder if any of these differing ways have a stronger basis in fact than other ways?
That is flat out funny! Thanks!
Can’t wait for these “dudes” to help in the looting and rioting....
Bunch of BRD if you ask me.
Did this graffitti include him with gold teeth and gang-like tatoo’s?
I used to live in Elmwood Park. It changed its name from East Paterson over 40 years and last I remembered had a large Italian-American population.
Elmwood Park is one of the last places I’d expect such a mural. Unless it’s in an area that directly borders Paterson.
Nope he looked like a little kid from romper room
The gangster culture has got to go. Too many people are being raised on hate, rage, violence and in prison. The radical left looks at that as progress, but the rest of us need to start rejecting it.
We need to put the gangster sub-culture out of business and raise up a new, more inspiring music scene for young people.
We can exercise some wisdom and love in what we buy for a change. That is change we can believe in versus Obama’s change into the gutter.
Alternate street parking will be suspended.
Drive by paint balloon throwing will take care of any mural.
Let it ride. A tribute to a gangsta wannabe Obama has its value.
If I had a son— he would look like Agent Terry ( the Border Agent killed by guns Obama and Holder had trafficked to the Mexican Drug cartels in Fast and Furious) Obamas’ private army earned their pay on the hype over the death a Trayvon Martin
a punk who became a martyr for the Changling racebaiters.
“We need to put the gangster sub-culture out of business....”
.
The supply of gangstas is unending with all the kids being born daily in one-parent households.
When we support the gangster culture products and don't make fun of it, rather take it seriously, we are responsible for turning the culture over to people with visions of violent slime so they can drag those children without moral dads and moms into a hellish existence.
