Dozens of that Leisure Class hang around in front of my apartment building, greeting non-residents who drive by for some reason, barbecuing burgers and chicken, drinking tall cans of malt beverages and playing thumping loud music. Most appear to be younger than my 52 years, but none seem to have ever found gainful employment. One wonders how they live...

The sofa crowd isn’t really concerned about the economy and jobs. They’ve all taken Nazi Polizei’s advice and have signed up for art or guitar lessons. Some are writing their biographies or bird watching.
