Liberal Arguments (Talking Points) Rebutted
Conservative Outcry ^ | 4/24/12

From television, radio, to general discussion with our liberal friends, we tend to hear the same arguments/talking points over and over. In this article, we've taken several of their most common arguments and provided a conservative response.

Enjoy, and please feel free to chime in with your comments.

Reagan and Bush raised the national debt more than any Democrat:

Let’s be clear – Obama now claims that title and with his current policies he will only add to his spending record.

I'll give you your due regarding Bush…to a point. He certainly was a “big spending” Republican and many within the Party resented his compassionate conservatism policies, and the costs associated with them.

But, to be fair, Bush did have to deal with the trade center fiasco and its aftermath, and that didn’t come cheap. Nor did he do it on his own. I seem to recall congressional approval for the actions taken after 9/11. Agree with his policies or not, the fact remains that there has not been another attack on U.S. soil since 9/11, so one could argue it was money well spent. Fifty years from now, I suspect history will look upon Bush in a favorable light, at least with respect to the war on terror. He rightly predicted it would be a long drawn out affair, adding that the U.S. public would likely sour on the war before it was over.

The world remains a dangerous place, as President Obama can attest to. And, the fact President Obama has continued to employ many of the anti-terror tactics employed by the Bush administration seems to justify Bush's actions that were questioned by many when initiated,

Reagan on the other hand is a completely different story…one should not speak that hallowed name in vain!

While he did add to the deficit, he was faced with far more troubles than President Obama has now. Interest rates were sky high thanks to Jimmy, the cold war with Russia was at its peak, our citizens lacked any semblance of national pride and he became commander in chief of a military armed with nothing more than slingshots after Carter raped the pentagon of funding. Of course Reagan ran up the debt...he had to or the United States, as we know it now, would have ceased to exist.

Ronald Reagan, God bless his soul, was not only respected by republicans and democrats alike, he was respected throughout the world. It was no coincidence the Iranian hostages were released upon his election. It was it’s no coincidence Muammar Gaddafi was not heard from for years after his home (not some high value military target) was bombed, and I strongly suspect that while Obama was able to finally kill Bin Laden by means of armed incursion, the Pakistanis would have turned him over alive to Reagan for fear of retribution.

For one to lump Reagan in with Bush and Obama is nothing short of blasphemy!

Freedom isn’t free:

Liberals seen to bandy this phrase about in an effort to provide faux support of our service men and women, yet they truly don’t appreciate the meaning of this phrase.

I know many a soldier, including myself, that has served to safeguard the right of liberals to spout the nonsense frequently uttered from their lips. And I’m able to cite many of our forefathers who fought and died for the same cause. I'd like to think a  visit with the residents of Walter Reed Hospital would serve to better define the meaning of this phrase to our liberal friends. Rest assured, comments from these hero's will be absent leftist idiocy.

Of course our liberal friends quickly change your tune when freedom is threatened. They cried for revenge when the towers fell, but reversed their stance upon realizing war was ugly. Later they danced in the streets when Osama Bin-Laden was eliminated, praising our great leader for doing what others could not accomplish. But, then refusing to acknowledge the methods used to find him because they consider them repugnant. Then, to make matters worse, they quickly return their anti-violence stance, this time questioning the legality of the U.S. to assassinate a foreign leader (Bin-Laden?), the same foreign leader they sought revenge on in the first place.

Now these peace lovers will have nothing to do with the atrocities currently plagued upon the Syrian people. Oh, they’ll take to Twitter to voice support for the rebels, but will remain inactive because they feel U.S. interests are not at stake. And they feel this way, even when filling the tanks of their gas guzzling SUV’s.

Yes, Liberals have no grasp of the dangers that plague the world today, or they simply refuse to acknowledge them in the hopes that a utopian society, where everyone gets along, can still be achieved.

We could continue with a discussion on Iran, but that would simply add to the point already made.

The United States is falling behind the rest of the world on many fronts:

The United States is ranked #10 in GDP.

The United States is ranked #22 in literacy.

The United States is ranked #42 in terms of income equality.

The United States is ranked #37 in health care quality, in terms of insurance coverage, access, fairness, quality, patient satisfaction.

We live in a country where 1 in 5 children are born below the excruciatingly low poverty level.

Instead of taking on these arguments one by one, I think a one paragraph answer will do.

Despite all our shortfalls, people the world over still flock to the United States, because it is still considered the greatest country on this earth.

Its another Lib talking point...but they’re actually referring to the nominal GDP per capita.
